Monty: We are going to talk about<br />
the pros and cons of the Mega Church.<br />
Okay, when you hear of mega church,<br />
you think of a lot of people. You think<br />
of big ministries that you see that got<br />
thousands of people. One of the first<br />
recorded Mega churches deals with<br />
Israel. Moses was preaching to millions<br />
of people and literally giving them<br />
what God said. I always wondered<br />
how Moses must have talked to these<br />
people. In my mind, Moses was on<br />
some type of mega horn. Maybe he had<br />
some brothers positioned somewhere<br />
through the crowd shouting it... I<br />
don’t know.<br />
In the New Testament, if you look<br />
in Acts 2, it talks about Peter. When<br />
he spoke and he preached, 3,000<br />
souls were converted that day. In my<br />
mind’s eye, we should have more<br />
mega churches because there are six<br />
billion people in this world, but there<br />
are so many of them lost. To me, it is<br />
God’s 8 will, that we be overflowing.<br />
First of all, I am a huge sports fan. I<br />
love sports. Madison Square Garden is<br />
where the Knicks play. It seats 18,200<br />
people. Yankee stadium seats 50,290<br />
people. Soldier Field, in Chicago,<br />
seats 61,000 people. The University<br />
of Michigan Stadium seats 109,000<br />
people. The Indiana Speedway seats<br />
250,000. All these people will go,<br />
religiously, to all these sporting events<br />
because they have a vested interest, but<br />
they can’t come to church.<br />
Snacks: I agree with you<br />
wholeheartedly. A lot of times, it is<br />
just not having a mega church, and<br />
having these large congregations, but<br />
it is what you have to do to keep them.<br />
You have to water it down, you have<br />
to compromise, you have to make it<br />
palatable for the Democrat, for the<br />
Republican, and for the rich man and<br />
the poor man. So you have to be a<br />
politician of a sort. You have to say<br />
just the right thing to just the right<br />
people at the right time to keep that<br />
membership. The minute you start<br />
getting into how you are living, and<br />
how you should be living... then you<br />
step on some toes and then them toes<br />
start tipping right out the door.<br />
Monty: Without the anointing of<br />
God, it is just a gathering. It is just<br />
getting together and having a meeting<br />
pretty much. I don’t want to act like<br />
there is off stuff in mega churches,<br />
because there is off stuff in little<br />
churches and medium sized churches<br />
as well. With that heavy concentration<br />
of people there, if we be on one<br />
accord, we should see miracles. In<br />
these big churches, the lame ought<br />
to be walking. But, some people are<br />
coming to be seen or for the celebrity<br />
of it.<br />
Snacks: I look at it like the difference<br />
between a body builder and a weight<br />
lifter lifter.
