RK INTERNATIONAL
WELL REPRESENTED
Hall 11, Stand No: A20
RK International Machine Tools partners will be
well-represented at the forthcoming EMO
exhibition in Hanover, Germany (18 – 23
September), with grinding machines on display
from Perfect, Robbi, Delta, Jainnher and large
capacity CNC milling machines from RK
International’s most recent partnership with
Lagun.
Grinding machine specialist Perfect (Hall 11,
Stand A20) will be exhibiting the Perfect X36
surface grinder, which now benefits from an
upgraded PLC control system, which allows
axial-controlled functions to be selected
according to different grinding conditions and
other features that will further enhance the ease
of use of this machine. The machine itself has a
300 x 600 mm maximum grinding area, a table
loading of up to 300 kg and 500 mm between
the table and spindle centreline, making it a
versatile machine for a range of applications.
Perfect will also unveil its brand new
PERFECT PFG-600R a rotary table surface
grinder designed for the manufacture of
components such as spacers, rings where
concentricity is paramount, the machine
features a 600 mm diameter rotary table with a
speed between 10 and 120 revs/min.
Over at Delta (Hall 11, Stand A78) there will
be a number of machines on display including
the newly introduced Mini 7 travelling column
surface grinder, the Rotax 7 fully automatic,
rotary table, horizontal spindle NC grinding
machine and the LC400 rotary grinder. The
Mini 7 machine is the smallest of the threemachine
Mini range from Delta and features a
800 x 550 mm maximum grinding area.
Robbi (Hall 11, Stand A82) will be
highlighting its large capacity CNC cylindrical
grinding machine range with the Omicron 3615
– Industry 4.0 Edition machine, part of its
Omicron 36 series, taking pride of place on the
stand. Machine control is provided by the
Siemens 840D sl CNC unit, which with its
Industry 4.0 configuration allows remote
control and monitoring of the machine possible.
The control will also create and store a database
of key data from the production process useful
for generating further productivity
improvements over time. To demonstrate
Industry 4.0 capability visitors to the stand will
be able to access certain machine from their own
mobile devices. A further control feature is the
ability to profile grinding wheels to match
production requirements.
EMO
MAZAK TO UNVEIL FULL INDUSTRY
4.0 SOLUTION Hall 27, Stand No: B56
Band saw specialist, Starrett, will be exhibiting
at EMO Hannover 2017 from September 18 to
23. The company’s team of technical experts
will be showcasing Starrett’s range of band saw
machines at the German trade show, as well as
demonstrating a variety of saw blades that are
tailor-made for various metal cutting
applications. You can find Starrett at stand C08
in hall 15.
At this year’s event, Starrett will be
demonstrating its wide range of band saw
machines from a 55sqm booth in the centre of
the sawing and cutting hall. This includes
machines from the portable S1005 band saw,
which is a battery operated machine with a
blade speed of 170 m/min that weighs just 4kg,
up to the impressive S4230. The latter machine
is a 475kg semi-automatic, horizontal band saw,
that features a dynamometric saw tension
indicator and the blade speed, which can range
from 20 to 85 m/min, is controlled by a variable
frequency drive.
“We have a band saw
machine that is suited for pretty
much any metal cutting
application you can think of,”
said John Cove, marketing
manager of Starrett. “It’s easy to
view all band saws as being
alike, but it’s a dangerous trap to
fall into.
“Having a machine that isn’t
suited to your needs can impact
Industry 4.0 will be placed at the centre of
Yamazaki Mazak’s EMO 2017 stand with the
unveiling of the company’s iSmart factory
concept along with 25 new machines, including
15 making their world debuts.
The iSmart factory concept utilises Mazak’s
Industry 4.0 infrastructure which enables
machine users to make the vital step-up from
automated cell manufacturing to a completely
connected Industry 4.0 factory of the future.
Mazak’s iSmart Factory is centred on three
key pillars, namely SMOOTH Technology, the
new SmartBox, which provides faster data
analysis with increased security; and the MT
Connect standard communication protocol. All
elements combine to facilitate the real-time
sharing of manufacturing data between the
production floor and offices, ultimately
resulting in shorter lead times, reduced inprocess
inventory and lower indirect labour
expenses for manufacturers.
SMOOTH Technology, incorporating the
world’s fastest CNC and Smooth Process
Support factory management software, sits at
the heart of Mazak’s Industry 4.0 infrastructure,
due to its ability to reduce machining by 30 per
cent, connect entire machine shops and provide
real-time monitoring and analysis capability.
In addition to the SMOOTH Process Support
modules, such as SMOOTH Scheduler and
SMOOTH PMC, the CNC has also been
equipped with a number of new programmes
which will be launched at EMO 2017. The first is
Mazak API (Application Programming
Interface) which enables non-Mazak software,
such as automation equipment, to be integrated
into the full suite of SMOOTH CNC’s.
Alongside this is the new Smooth Spindle
Analytics software, which provides instant
spindle vibration reporting and analysis.
During the exhibition, each of Mazak’s 25
machines, configured into six different
machining zones, will be connected using the
company’s Industry 4.0 infrastructure to
display real-time production information.
Hall 15, stand No: C08
efficiency, accuracy and even increase your
energy bills. Similarly, having the right machine
but the wrong blade can be just as detrimental
to your operation. At EMO Hannover we’ll be
demonstrating our range of band saw blades
and advising visitors to our stand about how to
select the best one for their needs.
“For instance, our Bi-Metal blades, such as
PRIMALLOY, have a specialised high-speed
edge with exclusive tooth geometry. In
addition, the range has extended life treatment
(EXT) functionality to ensure maximum fatigue
life, so they are ideal for high speed steel,
stainless steel and titanium alloy cutting
applications. On the other hand, there is our
Carbide range, which includes the ADVANZ
MC5 AND MC7, that has carbide-tipped teeth,
that are perfect for delivering precise cuts with
excellent finish when cutting ferrous metals.”
