Astellas – FY16 Corporate Social Responsibility Report
Medical Affairs Americas Employees Help
Change Tomorrow for Vancouver’s Native Youth
On July 22, approximately 200 Medical Affairs
employees attending the Medical Affairs
Americas Annual Forum in Vancouver, Canada
came together to make a difference in the lives
of 330 local Native youth. This event was part of
Changing Tomorrow Day, where Astellas offices
globally participate in planned volunteer activities
in their local communities throughout the year.
Employees sorted and packed nearly 5,000 items
donated by Astellas that will support local Native
youth, including items for:
• Youth Home Start-Up Kits containing dishes,
cutlery and non-perishable food items for
Native youth leaving foster care or home for
the first time.
• Newborn Start-Up Kits including baby
shampoos, lotions, baby nail clippers and wipes.
• Art and school supplies for Native families that
have trouble affording such items.
In addition, Astellas donated $5,000 to Urban Native
Youth Association (UNYA) and employees made
individual contributions totaling $7,500 that will
support programs to improve the lives of Native
youth transitioning to adulthood and families who
are struggling to afford basic necessities.
On behalf of Native youth, UNYA staff and
Board members, Cheryl Robinson, Programs
Administrator, extended heartfelt appreciation to
the Astellas employees for their volunteer work.
The Urban Native Youth Association is very grateful for the generosity witnessed
today among Astellas and its employees. The practical kits that were created in
such a short time will make a lasting impact in the lives of so many of Vancouver's
Native youth, and tangibly demonstrate to Native youth that they are cared for and
supported by their community."
“Astellas I.T. Team Builds Wheelchairs to
Support Victims of Hurricane Matthew
In the fall of 2016, employees from Astellas Americas Information Systems took a day to
assemble, test and decorate wheelchairs. These wheelchairs were subsequently donated
to the American Red Cross and sent to Florida to help those affected by Hurricane Matthew.
