Service providers for
steel companies
The Stahlinstitut VDEh (The Steel
Institute VDEh) was founded in 1860.
The institute fosters technical-sci-
entifi c co-operation between engi-
neers for the further development
of steel technology and the material
steel through joint research and ex-
changes of experience. The German
steel technology network includes
in addition to the Stahl-Zentrum and
the steel companies’ research facili-
ties and institutes for joint research
various universities. The close col-
laboration between steel producers
and processors allows the direct
implementation of material innova-
tions in existing production chains.
The joint work has since become
internationally oriented.
