Its industrial presence in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas gives the Group exposure to all the key steel markets, from emerging to mature. ArcelorMittal generated revenues of USD 105.2 billion in 2007, with a crude steel production of 116 million tonnes, representing around 10 per cent of world steel output. It continued to explore growth op- portunities in 2007, with 35 acquisi- 24 tion transactions that were agreed upon and identifying organic growth projects that will expand output by 20 million tonnes by 2012. In Germany, ArcelorMittal is the second largest steel producer with an output of approximately 8 million tonnes this year. The company operates facilities for fl at products in Bremen and Eisenhüttenstadt and plants specializing in long products in Duisburg and Hamburg. The four German sites employ approximately 8,000 people. Additionally, ArcelorMittal also has a variety of sales operations in Germany and holds a 51 per cent stake in Dillinger Hütte. The most important market for the four local sites is Germany. For the three West-German facilities, the second largest market is the EU, whereas Eisenhüttenstadt with its favourable location at the Polish border ships 47 per cent of its products to Central and Eastern Europe. The single largest customer group for the four German plants is the automotive industry, which accounts for approximately one third of ship- ments.
