(Freyssinet) is to consolidate the platform
for a new power station (Nhon trach) using
the exclusive Vacuum process (a contract
worth €9 million).
In the oil and gas infrastructure sector,
the synergies between VINCI Construction
Grands Projets and ENtrEPoSE Contracting,
VINCI Construction’s new subsidiary,
have borne fruit in the shape of a major
(€800 million total) contract, won as part
of a consortium, to build a regasification
terminal in the port of rotterdam;
the project comprises the construction
of a plant, a tanker unloading jetty, and

VINCI Construction Grands Projets (leader) and Bouygues Travaux Publics, as 50/50
partners in the Novarka consortium, signed a contract with the Ukrainian authorities
for the equivalent of €432 million to design and build the future Chernobyl “Arch”.
This 18,000-tonne, 105-metre high metal structure, 150 metres long with a 257-metre
span, will serve not only as a containment shelter but also as the system for the future
dismantling of the sarcophagus and the damaged reactor underneath. The arch will be
assembled and equipped in a site adjacent to the damaged reactor and will then be slid
into place over it. The signature of the contract in September 2007 marked the beginning
of 53 months of work, including 18 months of project engineering and planning.

Several new contracts were won
for the construction of waste treatment
plants. In France this concerned organic
waste-to-energy plants at Forbach,
Vannes and Angers, and the Mansfield
and Worksop plants in the United Kingdom.
Finally, in the nuclear sector, Freyssinet’s
new subsidiary Nukem is involved in Phase
1 of the Sellafield silos project in the United
Kingdom (for the treatment, encapsulation
and storage of intermediate nuclear waste).
