concertina photographic endpapers to volumes 1 and 2, each<br />
extending to 1850mm, depicting 360 degree panoramas of<br />
Pro Hart’s studio and gallery, illustrated with twenty-eight<br />
original hand coloured etchings by Pro Hart, thirteen of<br />
which are signed by the artist in pencil, numerous original<br />
photographs documenting the township of Broken Hill by<br />
Melbourne photographer James Calder tipped-in, additional<br />
loose original photographs by Calder housed in volume 3,<br />
which is presented as a portfolio.<br />

Broken Hill & Beyond’ is an ambitious publication by Robert<br />
Littlewood, the Australian publisher based in England, to<br />
document the settlement and development of far western<br />
New South Wales and the character of its unique residents.<br />
Central to our picture of today’s Broken Hill is iconic folk<br />
artist Pro Hart (1928 – 2006), who features in this work as a<br />
study of the culture and values of outback Australia.<br />
A mammoth work extensively illustrated with original<br />
artworks. Rare, the only copy recorded in Australian<br />
collections held in the State Library of New South Wales.<br />
