You’ll need good communication<br />

skills, plenty of enthusiasm and the<br />

ability to work with other people.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This course is ideal if you’re not<br />

sure if hairdressing or beauty<br />

therapy is for you as you’ll get a<br />

taste of both, then the opportunity<br />

to choose the path you prefer.<br />

You’ll gain the basic skills you need<br />

to get started as well as developing<br />

communication skills and your<br />

creativity. Training in our salon,<br />

you’ll also take up a placement<br />

one day a week in a professional<br />

salon. You can progress to our<br />

Level 2 programmes.<br />

Hairdressing<br />

Level 1<br />

Duration<br />

1 year<br />

Entry requirements<br />

You’ll need good communication<br />

skills and will need to attend an<br />

interview.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

You’ll work in our professional salon<br />

on paying clients.<br />

With a focus on hairdressing<br />

techniques, you’ll develop skills<br />

in colour enhancement, plaiting<br />

and twisting, cutting techniques,<br />

creative styling and the art of<br />

dressing. You’ll undertake a work<br />

experience placement one day<br />

a week to help develop your<br />

communication and creativity<br />

skills and have the chance to enter<br />

national competitions.<br />

On completion you can progress<br />

to our Level 2 in hairdressing.<br />

Cutting and Styling Services<br />

Level 2<br />

Duration<br />

1 year<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Four GCSE grades at C/4 or above<br />

or equivalent, including English and<br />

maths.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

This Level 2 course aims to provide<br />

you with a range of essential<br />

technical practical skills and<br />

knowledge, which will equip you<br />

to seek either further training or<br />

employment as a junior stylist.<br />

The skills include carrying out<br />

services such as shampooing,<br />

conditioning, styling, finishing and<br />

setting hair, cutting, plaiting and<br />

twisting.<br />

Following successful completion<br />

of this qualification you will be<br />

qualified to work in a number of<br />

employment destinations such<br />

as hairdressing salons, hotels or<br />

cruise ships.<br />

Hairdressing<br />

Level 3<br />

Duration<br />

1 year<br />

Entry requirements<br />

Four GCSE grades at A*-D (9-3)<br />

including English and maths.<br />

What will I learn?<br />

You'll spend a year with us<br />

developing the skills and<br />

knowledge required in today's<br />

fast paced, creative hairdressing<br />

industry.<br />

You'll study and develop<br />

advanced skills in hairdressing<br />

consultation services, cutting<br />

techniques, creatively colouring,<br />

hair colour correction, creative<br />

styling and dressing, hair<br />

extensions and hair design.<br />

Working as part of our professional<br />

team in our commercial salon,<br />

you will have the opportunity to<br />

perfect your customer care skills<br />

and understand what it means to<br />

work as part of an effective team,<br />

dealing with paying clients.<br />

You will also have the opportunity<br />

to build up your own portfolio<br />

of work and enter regional and<br />

national competitions at which<br />

our past students have enjoyed<br />

phenomenal success.<br />

You will be working<br />

in an industry standard,<br />

professional salon,<br />

designed to rival the<br />

very best commercial<br />

salons in the area.<br />
