Health & Beauty
Do you have a beauty
regime? I wash my face
morning and night with Liz
Earle Cleanse and Polish.
In the morning I use my
Clarisonic to exfoliate
Heart of
Oats…
Because they contain betaglucan,
a form of fibre, oats
have the ability to reduce
cholesterol, stabilise blood
sugar and cut the risk of heart
disease from blocked arteries.
Not only are they super-good
for you (they’re also high in
Vitamin B1, magnesium,
selenium and protein) but a
bowl of porridge oats makes a
cheap and tasty breakfast that
will fill you up till lunchtime.
Regular porridge oats can be
processed with wheat so if you
want to avoid gluten, go for
the gluten-free varieties.
One cup of oats cooked with
two cups of milk or water and
then use SkinCeuticals CE
Ferulic, which increases UV
protection, followed with a
SkinCeuticals brightening
moisturiser with SPF 30.
Having spent my youth
laying in the sun, slathered in
Hawaiian Tropic, it’s time to
take more care! At night I use
a Bobby Brown moisturiser.
Once a week I might use a
mud or cucumber face mask.
Do you have a particular
product you couldn’t live
without? As a dietitian and
yoga teacher I believe a sense
of health and wellbeing
comes from within –
eating well, getting plenty
of rest and a daily yoga
practice. I love Neal’s Yard
Beauty Oil, a rich source
of essential fatty acids and
antioxidants, which I put in
my N utriBullet with a variety
of other wonderful things.
a handful of frozen berries will
turn into delicious porridge
after just 3 minutes in a
microwave at 600W. Soaking
What’s your ultimate
pampering treat? I love a
massage or facial. I go on
a yoga retreat once a year
in Mallorca and I have
a wonderful Thai yoga
massage whilst I’m there.
It’s a very physical massage,
involving acupressure,
yoga and Ayurvedic
principles. It’s bliss!
Who’s your style icon?
I admire anyone who
looks both stylish, but
comfortable and happy
in his or her clothes. I’m
a huge admirer of Cate
Blanchett’s style and talent.
the oats in the milk overnight
before cooking makes them
easier to digest and they’ll
cook in half the time .
Body
Beautiful…
As we all start to hunker
down for the winter, the
central heating is beginning
to take its toll. The good
news is that Ruby Red’s
Skin Tonic Body Oil is
the perfect antidote to
dry and flaky winter skin.
The smell alone will raise
your spirits – its warm,
peppery, citrussy scent makes
you think of Christmas
pomanders and it’s made
from 100% essential oils
rich in manganese which
are instantly absorbed to
nourish and pamper your
skin. Use after bathing or
showering for soft and supple
skin all winter. Skin Tonic
Body Oil, £32 for 190 ml
