JOYCE BRANDMAN
Joyce Brandman of Los angeles, california, is known in
the United states and israel for her steadfast leadership
in support of the Hebrew University and her inspiring
impact on others. Joyce and her beloved late husband
saul (z”l), through the work of the saul and Joyce
Brandman foundation, has helped hundreds of charities
and nonprofit organizations to improve the lives of
people in many parts of the world.
Joyce is a Governor of the university’s international
Board of Governors, an afHU National Board Member
and immediate past President of the Western region.
in 2010 she received an Honorary fellowship from the
university in recognition of her humanitarianism and
support for cutting-edge scientific research.
a driving force in the development of afHU’s Western
region, Joyce is a member of the National campaign
committee and helps to develop the resources for
priorities such as Hebrew University faculty recruitment
and student scholarships. the Brandman foundation
chair in cardiac and Pulmonary diseases is facilitating
life-saving work, and the Brandman Laboratory Building
on the edmond J. safra campus is a state-of-the-art
teaching and research facility.
a hands-on philanthropic leader, Joyce epitomizes the
ideal of volunteerism in the service of others. as President
of the saul and Joyce Brandman foundation, which
provides funding to diverse medical, educational and Jewish
communal causes, Joyce travels annually to Guatemala
to volunteer with HeLPs international, and volunteers with
the Los angeles-based non-profit cedars-sinai Hospital.
she counsels women with breast cancer, and works
side-by-side with health care professionals.
