VIBEKE LICHTEN AND JOEL ASSOULINE<br />

IN MEMORY OF MICHAL LICHTEN<br />

frequent visitors to Hebrew University, Vibeke Lichten<br />

and Joel assouline have contributed to pioneering<br />

cancer research at the university. they have also helped<br />

to promote early childhood education and poverty<br />

intervention in israel.<br />

Partners in a2 investment Group (a2lG), a real estate<br />

development company, the couple first met in switzerland<br />

while Joel was earning his MBa at the University of<br />

Lausanne. their perspective is international and their love<br />

for israel, longstanding.<br />

Vibeke Lichten is a licensed architect and a principal<br />

of atelier Vibeke Lichten, an architecture and design<br />

firm that specializes in inner city revitalization. she<br />

serves on the board of the Beverly Willis architecture<br />

foundation. Born in denmark, Vibeke and her family<br />

moved to israel, where she completed her service<br />

in the air force before studying furniture design and<br />

interior architecture abroad. she has taught architecture<br />

at educational institutes in the United states and has<br />

been widely published.<br />

Joel assouline, a licensed real estate broker, leads<br />

PROFESSOR RONNIE FRIEDMAN, VIBEKE LICHTEN and JOEL ASSOULINE<br />

finance and management at a2iG. He is an alumnus<br />

of the advanced real estate Management Program<br />

at Harvard’s Graduate school of design. raised in<br />

casablanca, Morocco, Joel later moved to france with his<br />

family. a staunch supporter of israel, he first visited the<br />

country after the yom Kippur War.<br />

was awarded the <strong>2015</strong> Solomon Bublick<br />

Prize on May 31st. A longtime friend of<br />

The Hebrew University and an Honorary<br />

Doctorate recipient, Israel’s ninth President<br />

delivered a public address during the<br />

university’s 78th annual convocation and<br />

Board of Governors.<br />
