Audemars Piguet
Royal Oak Frosted Gold
FOR HER
Gérald Genta’s enduring legacy is the Royal Oak, a timepiece with an octagonal bezel design that brought Audemars
Piguet back from the brink, and one that continues to be the flagship collection of the brand.
In 1971 when it was first shown at the Basel watch fair, it created an all-new category called the luxury sports watch
that didn’t exist until then. Five years later, AP introduced a women’s version of the Royal Oak.
Forty years on, jeweller Carolina Bucci was tasked by Audemars Piguet to create the frosted effect on the
40th-anniversary editions that come in variants of white- and rose-gold and in bezel sizes of 33mm and 37mm. This
here is the rose-gold 37mm version and the frosted look is created by using the Florentine Technique – a diamondtipped
tool hammers the surface of the gold to create the frosted effect.
This one’s a big bold statement on your wrist that’ll shine even brighter the moment you angle it towards the
spotlight – the only place it really belongs.
