Hooking Up Utilities
Basic things you need to know
about utilities and fees when you
move to Brevard County.
ELECTRICITY
Florida Power & Light Co. customers
are required to secure their
accounts with a deposit. An initial
service charge is included on the
first bill.
To start electric service, you
will need to provide your social
security number, driver’s license
number or social insurance number.
If any of these is not available,
you still can submit an order but
will need to fax in another form
of verifiable ID.
A certificate of occupancy
following an electrical inspection
is required for first-time service for
a new home.

GAS
Florida City Gas supplies natural
gas to most of Brevard. The company
requires a deposit that varies
according to the amount of
monthly gas usage.
The meter deposit is refunded
with interest after service establishment
fee is required 12 months
to customers with good payment
records. A $50 start-up fee is
required.

TELEPHONE
You can call AT&T at 888-757-6500
from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday
through Friday and 8 a.m. to
5 p.m. Saturday to set up residential
service.
You can call 866-620-6000 from
8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through
Friday for business service. If
calling from out of state or via cell
phone, call 800-753-2909. A deposit
amount is determined by the
customer’s credit report.
Customers must give their
name, address and Social Security
number.
Bright House telephone service
is used by 250,000 customers in
Central Florida. For information
on setting up an account, call
