Baseball, softball:<br />

District 2 and District 22 Little<br />

League, the governing body for<br />

Little League baseball and softball<br />

in Brevard, consists of<br />

20 leagues from Mims to Palm Bay.<br />

Opening day for most leagues is in<br />

late February or early March, and<br />

play continues until the last of the<br />

All-Star tournaments in July and<br />

August.<br />

Babe Ruth leagues: Brevard<br />

County Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken<br />

Baseball League offers games for<br />

children ages 4 to 18 and includes<br />

softball for girls and a physically<br />

challenged division for players<br />

through the age of 20 called “Buddy<br />

Ball.” The league selects an<br />

All-Star team to participate in<br />

regional, district, state and national<br />

Babe Ruth tournaments.<br />

program for children ages<br />

6 to 18. Volunteers needed for<br />

after-school programming from<br />

2:20 until 8 p.m. weekdays during<br />

The association offers football and<br />

cheerleading programs for children<br />

Cape Coast Volleyball club: The<br />

club has teams for ages five to 18<br />

and is open to all skill levels and<br />

Cat 5 Softball: Girls’ fast-pitch<br />

softball organization is sanctioned<br />

with ISA, NSA, USSSA and ASA<br />

organizations. Cat 5 has three<br />

teams and levels of play for ages 8<br />

Central Brevard Youth Basketball<br />

League: The league is affiliated<br />

with the Orlando Magic professional<br />

basketball team and the<br />

Brevard Bulls AAU program and<br />

sponsors competitive and recreational<br />

youth basketball leagues in<br />

the fall and spring at Kennedy<br />

Circle of Champions Wrestling<br />

Club: Conducts wrestling practice<br />

for students Tuesday and Thursday<br />

nights at Palm Bay High. Club<br />

wrestlers participate in AAU meets<br />

Palm Bay Youth Softball Association:<br />

League focuses on learning<br />

and teamwork for children ages 3<br />

to 18 throughout Brevard. Play is<br />

offered in the spring and fall,<br />

Pop Warner Youth Football and<br />

Cheerleading: Brevard has five<br />

programs that participate in the<br />

Mid-Florida Conference of the Pop<br />

Warner Youth Football and Cheerleading<br />

Association. The organization<br />

provides sports and scholastic<br />

opportunities. It offers five football/cheerleading<br />

divisions and a<br />

flag football division for children<br />

ages 5 to 16. Practices begin in<br />

Police Athletic Leagues: Groups<br />

established across Brevard focus on<br />

several sporting events, including<br />

basketball, soccer and football,<br />

and provide youth leadership and<br />

Quick Start Tennis: Designed to<br />

teach tennis to children younger<br />

than 10, the program offers lessons<br />

at the Viera Community Center. To<br />

Brevard Youth Soccer League:<br />

The league consists of 14 clubs<br />

across Brevard and Indian River<br />

counties for children ages 4 to 19.<br />

Traditionally, more than 10,000<br />

athletes participate in these clubs.<br />

The Outreach Program for Soccer<br />

coaches children ages 5 to 19 with<br />

mental and physical disabilities, for<br />

Viera Soccer Club: The club offers<br />

soccer instruction and games for<br />
