WHEELY GOOD
World-renowned for creating sexy cars servicing the ultra-high end spectrum
of the automotive industry, Pininfarina embodies the quintessential aesthetic
values of Italian design. While they usually lend their mark on limited runs
of Ferraris or Maseratis, their first electric bike created with bicycle makers
Diavelo is an elegant piece of design and engineering. Named the E-voluzione,
Paolo Pininfarina, chairman of the Group declares that it “represents a perfect
synthesis of our spirit - sporty character and eco-friendly soul.” At a mere 16
kilogrammes, its carbon frame makes it lighter than many other electric bikes on
the market, while integrating its main components within the bike frame makes
for better balance and performance.
WEIGHT AND SEE
Tired of plastic dumbbells and loudly hued
workout gear? Not if they’re Swedish
brand Tingest’s home training equipment
which looks like objet d’art that probably
wouldn’t look out of place in Tom Ford’s
penthouse. Monolithic marble dumbbells, a
graceful bamboo hula hoop, and sculptural
slimline kettlebells, the collection serves
more than just an aesthetic function, they are
designed to sit on display in the home so the
owner never has to dig them out of storage
before they can start training. They’re
also targeted at people who live in limited
spaces so the equipment can be displayed
prominently even when they’re not in use.
TOO POOL FOR SCHOOL
An insta-pool which can be up and running within minutes of
its arrival may sound too good to be true but Canadian company
Modpools have cracked it by converting standard, metal cargo
containers into pools and jacuzzis that can be installed above or below
ground.
Founded by husband-and-wife team Paul and Denise Rathnam, who
has worked in the modified shipping container industry for years, the
couple were inspired to make their first prototype after noticing that
pools were becoming more compact during a vacation to Palm Springs.
The now patented pools are repurposed from used containers once
they are modified to be strong enough to hold in 4,800 gallons of water.
