Pete started this fall event season of Biking for MS with the “Historic New Bern Ride over the weekend of September 9th. This two-day fundraising event that takes you through the beautiful countryside of eastern North Carolina. Pete is a member of the Canterbury Team and participated in the “Tour To Tanglewood” held on September 16 through 17th. Pete did 50 miles per day at the event which is a a twoday fundraising cycling event that took him through the Yadkin River Valley and beautiful NC wine country a unique mountain biking route. The ride begins and ends each day in Tanglewood Park in Clemmons, NC. At this event the Canterbury Team led the fundraisug efforts with $86,329.00 raised and Pete raised $10,710.00 individually. Pete’s doctor gave him permision to participate and is looking forward to the “Breakaway to the Beach” event to be held Ocober 7 and 8th at Sunst Beach, NC. The Bike MS: Breakaway to the Beach starts on the sandy shores of beautiful Sunset Beach and takes cyclists through the quiet roads of rural NC and SC. Pete is going to ride in this event and he will remove his “tendonitis soft cast” on his right foot. Pete says not only is the bike events rewarding but it also helps his foot heal. As a physician friend told him.”motion is lotion and rest is rust. Pete is going to try to do 100 miles fi rst day and 50 miles the second. The best part about these events are that a very high percentage of the donations go to the R&D effort not to pay for the events as they rely on individual and corporate sponsorships. Pete’s kids, Kelly and Megan fi n- ished a 62 day “Bike across the US For MS” event over the summer.
