ARTISAN SPOTLIGHT
Meet the Smiths
By Lacey Smith
Our business began on a prayer
and followed with a giant leap of faith.
When my husband, Aaron, and I got married, we knew we wanted to start
our own business at some point. Aaron always had a brilliant mind and artistic
souI and I wanted to encourage that with everything I had. Like most
people, unfortunately, we had no idea where to start. First, we went to college
and got degrees to have “something to fall back on”. Aaron received a
job offer at a very cushy structural engineering firm and honestly, it
felt like we had fallen into a honey pot. How could we give up this nice
steady income and do something else? When would we have the time? By
this point we already had two precious little boys to love and care for.
Well, we prayed. We asked God to show us our next step. The thing about
prayer is God always answers, just not necessarily in the way one would expect.
The very next day, Aaron called me at at the end of his work day like
he always did. Only this time he was nervous. They had let him go! I had
asked God to show us the way in such a manner that we would not miss
His timing. At first I was scared, but then it dawned on me -- we asked for
this.
