Pastor Blessing Agboli, has
refuted popular beliefs that
most church leaders with
private jets acquired them
with proceeds from tithes
and offering.
Agboli made this
statement at a press
conference, jointly
addressed by the Senior
Pastor of the church, Apostle
Joseph Agboli and his wife,
to announce the Bethel
Victory Convention of the
church tagged: “God Of
Wonders’ slated for
Tuesday, 21st through 26 of
November 2016.

Ashafa backs state of
emergency in education
sector

Gbenga Ashafa,
representing Lagos East
Senatorial District has
expressed support by
concerned Nigerians for the
need to declare State of
Emergency in the
education sector in the
country.
President Muhammadu
Buhari, had a day earlier,
hosted the Federal
Executive Council to the
Presidential Summit on
Education organized by
the Minister of Education
Alhaji Adamu Adamu,
where Buhari decried the
rot being experienced in the
Nigerian educational
sector.
Ashafa made the remarks
yesterday, at the
Convergence Summit, held
at the NAF Conference
AFC signs Accredition Master
Agreement with GCF

S EOUL—AFRICA
Finance Corporation,
AFC, has signed an
Accreditation Master
Agreement (AMA) with the
Green Climate Fund, GCF,
in Seoul, South Korea.
Having received its
accreditation in 2015, AFC
is one of the first African
development finance
institutions to sign such an
agreement.
Established in 2010 by
the 194 countries founder
members of the United
National Framework
Convention on Climate
Change, UNFCCC, the
GCF launched its initial
resource mobilization in
2014, which rapidly
gathered pledges worth

The senator said, “I am
happy that the Minister is
present at this event
because he is very vital in
achieving the theme of this
event, which is “Driving a
new public education
initiative for Nigeria.” It
goes without saying that
the state of public education
in Nigeria is very poor and
crying for help. From the
primary to tertiary
institutions, public
education in Nigeria is
failing.”
Ashafa who enumerated
some statistics to buttress his
point, said: “Permit me to draw
some inferences quickly.
According to the Central
Intelligence Agency’s world fact
book, the literacy level in Nigeria
is just about 59 per cent, this is
not too far from the UNESCO’s
submission that about 65 million
Nigerians are illiterate."

the AMA, AFC will have
access to direct funding
from GCF, rather than
through intermediaries or
third parties.Over time, the
GCF is expected to become
the main multilateral
financing mechanism to
support climate action in
developing countries.
AFC intends to leverage this
partnership by mobilizing GCFs
capital to further its low carbon
emission investments in 4 of its 5
focus sectors: power, transport,
heavy industries and telecoms.
To date, AFC has demonstrated
a longstanding commitment to
financing green energy in Africa
through its early investment in
the 26MW award winning
Cabeolica wind farm in Cape
Verde.
Tithes, offerings can't buy
private jets —Agboli
Reacting to claims that
church leaders were
feeding fat on tithes and
offering money, Agboli
stated that jets are very
expensive and that no
amount of tithes and
offering money can
purchase them.
In her words: “Offerings
cannot buy private jets. You
cannot just park a jet
without making a business
out of it. Owning a private
jet is not a sin. I did not
think offerings can buy jets.
That we are pastors does
not mean we should be
poor”.
On the church convention,
Apostle Agboli disclosed that the
convention is meant to liberate
members and the generality of
Nigerians from the affliction of
poverty, hardship, among others.
