MESSAGE
• a. Stellar - Strategies for Teaching English Language
and Reading. This programme for the Pr 1-2
emphasises on authentic experiential learning, engaging
the students in reading and understanding.
As part of their learning journey, lessons were conducted
in Lumpini Park and students wrote about
their field trips to Safari World, Royal Thai Air Force
Museum, and Kids Science Discovery Museum.
• b. Residential Trips for Pr 3 to Pr 6. Our students
went to Horseshoe Point, The Pines, Nakon Nayok and
Rayong for their Residential trips. We have received
very good feedback from students who thoroughly
enjoyed the experience. These trips had tremendous
support from our students and parents. They provide
our students with character development, focusing
on collaboration and working together harmoniously
and cohesively. These are excellent life skills needed
by the students to prepare them for 21st century.
PRINCIPAL, PRIMARY SECTION
It is with great pleasure and satisfaction that we have successfully
completed yet another hectic academic year of
2016-2017. We mourned the loss of a great beloved King,
King Bhumibhol Adulyadej, and welcomed the new King
Maha Vajiralongkorn.
SISB has just celebrated its 15th anniversary held together
with the soft opening of the new secondary campus which
boasts of first-class sports and performing arts facilities.
This year we have consolidated and further developed many
of the initiatives introduced previously. The 5 Strategic
Thrusts of Quality Teaching and Learning, Quality Staff, Quality
Students, Quality Resource Management, Quality Parental
and Community Partnership, which we have crafted, have
guided us well and this will continue to be our compass for
the next five years.
Below are some of the numerous programmes that were implemented
and they are greatly enjoyed by the students:
• c. We are into the third year of Prefectship and our prefects
have done us proud. Besides their prefectorial duties
of looking after the students and ensuring that all is
well, they have also presented on various current affairs
issues eg Slimes,Road Safety, Planets. Good job, Prefects!
• d. Maths Trails which tested students on their
creative problem solving skills. They are given real
life situations which are not in the textbook, and
have to find solutions. These activities bring out
the teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving
skills in the students. Students were required to
present their findings to their peers and teachers.
• e. As part of our objective to engage parents in their
students’ learning, for the first time, SISB organised a
series of Math workshops for our parents to learn and
experience the joys and frustrations of Maths. We flew
in a trainer from Singapore, and the parents had fun
learning together with their children and teachers. Parents
can understand better the rigours their children are
facing, and this will make the children more resilient!
• f. The Science Competition is an annual school event
whereby our Primary 3 to 6 students are posed a challenge
and they have to use their creativity and process
skills to complete it. This year’s competition centred
around the theme ‘Creative Construction’ and our students
had displayed strong leadership and communication
skills.
