first, nursing. When I realized I didn’t<br />
like the sight of blood, I changed to<br />
psychiatrist.<br />

had? Unusual by today’s standards:<br />
Illinois Bell used to have a bank of<br />
phone operators called Name and<br />
Address. It was a live person who<br />
gave the caller the name/address<br />
for a phone number. It’s now what we<br />
call reverse search online, but in those<br />
days, I would answer, “Ms. Rosario.<br />
Number please,” even when I<br />
answered my own home phone.<br />
