PUBLIC ART GUIDE

BLUE MORNING by Aimee Deneweth
GREENWOOD VILLAGE
PUBLIC ART GUIDE
The city of Greenwood Village views public art as a
cultural enrichment for our community. The Public Art
Program contributes to the civic pride of Greenwood
Village and involves residents in an active dialogue of
the arts. We hope you’ll connect with us online at
greenwoodvillage.com/culturalarts
There are several main concentrations of public art in
Greenwood Village. We’ve organized this guide to be a
self-guided tour of art at each specific site.
On the cover: Palazzo Verdi lobby featuring
Chandelier by Lonnie Hanzon, Ascencion (Wall) by
Todd Siler, Chartres Labrynth (floor), by Roger Leitner.
Image courtesy of John Madden Co.

Greenwood Village owes much of its public art to the
Museum of Outdoor Arts, a forerunner in the placement
of site-specific sculpture in Colorado.
This art collection is located at various public
locations throughout the Denver metro area. From
commercial office parks to traditional sculpture gardens,
the art is placed to interpret space as “a museum
without walls.”
Founded in 1981 by John W. Madden, Jr. and daughter
Cynthia Madden Leitner, the Museum of Outdoor Arts is
a synthesis of fine art, architecture and landscape design
integrated into the community and business environment.
It is fully accessible to the public, exemplifying the belief
that art is a part of everyday life.
The Museum of Outdoor Arts owns and operates
Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre, which enhances its
efforts in promoting outdoor performing arts and events.
Marjorie Park, which is adjacent to the Amphitheatre, is
one of the Museum’s primary outdoor and installation
spaces. When the Museum of Outdoor Arts opened to
the public in 1981, there were 19 art acquisitions on
display. Currently, the pieces in the collection number
over 150 with new changes occurring each year.
