I
n addition to its seven faculties, Hebrew
University has a wide array of schools,
institutes, and centers, where vital teaching
and research activities are creating a lasting
impact upon Israeli society and our world. The
following reflect a sampling of what HU offers: *
Edmond and Lily Safra Center
for Brain Sciences
The Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences
(ELSC) is Israel’s foremost institute for interdisciplinary brain
research and an intellectual powerhouse at the forefront
of the revolution in neuroscience. Utilizing their strength in
computational neuroscience, ELSC researchers work to better
understand the human mind. ELSC scientists are creating
brain-machine interfaces that enable paralyzed patients
to activate robotic limbs; developing treatment for Parkinson’s
patients; enabling the blind to see through sensory
substitution devices; and developing therapies to ameliorate
symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, among other innovations.
The Mandel Institute of Jewish Studies coordinates
all teaching departments and research
centers devoted to the pursuit of Jewish Studies
at the university and oversees the publication of
a wide variety of journals and publications representing
a broad range of academic disciplines.
The Institute’s eight teaching departments—
Bible, Talmud, Hebrew Literature, Jewish History,
Jewish Thought, Hebrew Language, Jewish and
Comparative Folklore, and Yiddish—serve a combined
student body of more than 1,200 students.
Jerusalem School of Business
Administration (JSBA)
The Jerusalem School of Business Administration
(JSBA) is Israel’s premier academic business
school. It fulfills a central role in shaping the
“Start-Up Nation’s” business and management
leadership ecosystem. The JSBA ranks among the
top 100 business programs worldwide. It offers
first-class undergraduate, graduate, executive, and
international M.B.A. programs.
Seymour Fox School of Education
The Seymour Fox School of Education is a
leader in academic instruction, professional training,
and research. Faculty members advance new ways
of thinking about education by using an interdisciplinary
approach and taking into account today’s
social and cultural challenges in Israel and beyond.
Rothberg International School
The Rothberg International School attracts
more than 2,000 students annually from over 90
countries around the globe to its diverse undergraduate
and graduate programs. The school
provides students with an opportunity to pursue
intellectual challenges, while immersing themselves
in Israeli culture.
