n addition to its seven faculties, Hebrew<br />

University has a wide array of schools,<br />

institutes, and centers, where vital teaching<br />

and research activities are creating a lasting<br />

impact upon Israeli society and our world. The<br />

following reflect a sampling of what HU offers: *<br />

Edmond and Lily Safra Center<br />

for Brain Sciences<br />

The Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences<br />

(ELSC) is Israel’s foremost institute for interdisciplinary brain<br />

research and an intellectual powerhouse at the forefront<br />

of the revolution in neuroscience. Utilizing their strength in<br />

computational neuroscience, ELSC researchers work to better<br />

understand the human mind. ELSC scientists are creating<br />

brain-machine interfaces that enable paralyzed patients<br />

to activate robotic limbs; developing treatment for Parkinson’s<br />

patients; enabling the blind to see through sensory<br />

substitution devices; and developing therapies to ameliorate<br />

symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, among other innovations.<br />

The Mandel Institute of Jewish Studies coordinates<br />

all teaching departments and research<br />

centers devoted to the pursuit of Jewish Studies<br />

at the university and oversees the publication of<br />

a wide variety of journals and publications representing<br />

a broad range of academic disciplines.<br />

The Institute’s eight teaching departments—<br />

Bible, Talmud, Hebrew Literature, Jewish History,<br />

Jewish Thought, Hebrew Language, Jewish and<br />

Comparative Folklore, and Yiddish—serve a combined<br />

student body of more than 1,200 students.<br />

Jerusalem School of Business<br />

Administration (JSBA)<br />

The Jerusalem School of Business Administration<br />

(JSBA) is Israel’s premier academic business<br />

school. It fulfills a central role in shaping the<br />

“Start-Up Nation’s” business and management<br />

leadership ecosystem. The JSBA ranks among the<br />

top 100 business programs worldwide. It offers<br />

first-class undergraduate, graduate, executive, and<br />

international M.B.A. programs.<br />

Seymour Fox School of Education<br />

The Seymour Fox School of Education is a<br />

leader in academic instruction, professional training,<br />

and research. Faculty members advance new ways<br />

of thinking about education by using an interdisciplinary<br />

approach and taking into account today’s<br />

social and cultural challenges in Israel and beyond.<br />

Rothberg International School<br />

The Rothberg International School attracts<br />

more than 2,000 students annually from over 90<br />

countries around the globe to its diverse undergraduate<br />

and graduate programs. The school<br />

provides students with an opportunity to pursue<br />

intellectual challenges, while immersing themselves<br />

in Israeli culture.<br />
