14 Tuesday July 19 2016 NOR’WEST NEWS Papanui High’s fairy light formal PAPANUI HIGH School students got dressed up and let their hair down at this year’s formal. The event was held at Canterbury University’s Foundry with about 430 students and 70 staff attending, and sharing in a wonderful sense of occasion. Overseeing the formal was year 13 dean Rachel McConnel, who said it was a great night. “The positive relationships between students and staff is a strength of the school and it is always so humbling when students genuinely express excitement at having us there,” she said. “The students looked fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed a night of dancing, photographs, and delicious food.” The theme of an Autumn Dream was realised through the hard work of a 20-student formal committee, led by year 13 students Johanna Adams and Maddy Colombus. The two students created a woodland-inspired atmosphere using hundreds of fairy lights. ALL DRESSED UP: Head students from Papanui High School pose at the annual formal. SUITS AND DRESSES: International students dressed up for the occasion. PARTY TIME: Students enjoy a night out at the annual formal.
