CBHS, Rangi Ruru stand out<br />

IT WAS a successful outing for<br />

Christchurch Boys’ High and<br />

Rangi Ruru Girls’ School<br />

rowers at the weekend with<br />

more than 10 golds won<br />

between them at the Canterbury<br />

championships.<br />

More than 900 competitors<br />

from 28 clubs and schools in<br />

Canterbury competed for medals<br />

on Lake Ruataniwha, Twizel, on<br />

Saturday and Sunday.<br />

CBHS won eight golds – which<br />

included a blistering fast time of<br />

6min 13.42sec to win the men’s<br />

open eights – as well as three<br />

silver and three bronze medals.<br />

Rangi Ruru won six golds,<br />

with two of those coming in the<br />

women’s novice eights and ​intermediate<br />

eights, two silver and<br />

three bronze medals.<br />

St Margaret’s were nipping at<br />

their heels with five golds and<br />

four silvers.<br />

Christ’s College won three<br />

gold, two silver and three bronze<br />

medals.<br />

St Andrew’s won seven silver<br />

and two bronze medals.<br />
