NEIGHBOURLY FUN: It’s Neighbours Day Aoteoroa this<br />

weekend and the Wainoni/Avonside Community Services<br />

Trust will host a mayoral Masterchef scone bake-off to mark<br />

the day. Lining up to take out the scone-baking honours this<br />

year will be Mayor David Ayers from Waimakariri. He’ll be<br />

up against a line-up of deputy mayors, including Hurunui’s<br />

Marie Black, the city council’s Andrew Turner and Malcolm<br />

Lyall from Selwyn. There will also be a sausage sizzle,<br />

bacon butties and entertainment for the kids, including cone<br />

Olympics, bumper balls and soccer. Get along to the<br />

bake-off on Saturday, 11am-2pm, 878 Avonside Dr (opposite<br />

the old entrance to Porritt Park).<br />

Faerie Picnic<br />

Sunday, 12.30-2.30pm<br />

Everyone is invited to the final<br />

faerie picnic of the summer.<br />

There will be games, a fairy<br />

garden tour, free face-painting,<br />

giant bubbles and hula-hoops.<br />

garden teacup competition, but<br />
