Honouring ANZACs at Halswell<br />
Hillmorton High School<br />
students attended a special<br />
service to mark Anzac Day.<br />
The service was held at the<br />
Halswell Domain Memorial<br />
and the students were joined<br />
by other schools including<br />
Cashmere High, Oaklands and<br />
Aidanfield Christan College.<br />
Deputy principal Eleanor Sims<br />
said Hillmorton students had the<br />
honour of laying a wreath.<br />
The service was organised<br />
for the Templeton Returned<br />
And Services Association in<br />
conjunction with the Halswell<br />
Residents’ Association, The<br />
Halswell & District Lions Club<br />
and the Riccarton-Wigram<br />
Community Board.<br />

Barnardos Kidstart Childcare<br />
has held a special service<br />
to bless the beginning of<br />
construction for a new building<br />
opening in Hornby.<br />
Hornby Primary School will<br />
be getting a brand new Pasifika<br />
early learning centre in July.<br />
The blessing of the site for<br />
construction to begin was held<br />
last Friday.<br />
Early learning centre’s South<br />
Island senior administrator<br />
Kirsty Eastwick said the new<br />
centre will be a learning space<br />
that reflects and fosters children’s<br />
strong sense of identity,<br />
language and culture.<br />
She said the centre will mark<br />
the beginning of a new endeavour<br />
for the Pasifika community.<br />

community group members and<br />
Wigram MP Megan Woods attended<br />
