Brydone Hotel is also an Official Gold
partner of the Alps to Ocean Cycle
Trail, which has been listed as one of
the must-dos in 2016.
Luxury's Lap
The Brydone Hotel is one of the
most versatile venues in North Otago,
and has long been the venue for
corporate meetings, exhibitions,
product launches, grand dinner
banquets and seminars. They pride
themselves on their in house facilities
and their service.
Within the complex is the Sports
Central Brewhouse, Oamaru’s
dedicated sports bar which offers a
TAB, gaming lounge, cold beer on
tap and a great atmosphere to
watch sport on the big screen
and enjoy live music.
For a quieter option,
or somewhere to take
the family, the Totara
Bar offers a mouthwatering
menu with
locally-produced
ingredients, wide
range of beverages,
local wines and great
coffee. “Anyone
can just come in and
relax in the Totara Bar’s
comfortable atmosphere,”

Oamaru’s central location in the
South Island means it can be reached
from Dunedin and Christchurch
International Airports. The Brydone’s
location within Oamaru’s CBD makes

Oamaru Licensing Trust and profits are
put to good use in the community,
so using the Brydone for any event is
good for you and good for the whole
community.
Liquor Licensing
The Oamaru Licensing Trust (OLT) is
a community owned business that
operates in the hospitality industry
within North Otago.
The trust owns and operates four
establishments in Oamaru – the
Brydone Hotel with conference
facilities, the Sports Central Brew
House which is Oamaru’s only
dedicated sports bar, a
Liquorland franchise
outlet, and the
Northstar motelrestaurant-bar
and bottle
store with
conference
facilities.
The trust is
administered
under the
provisions of the
Sale and Supply of
Alcohol Act 2012. The
functions of the trust and operate
premises for the sale and supply
of alcohol on any other business
that, in the trust’s opinion, can
be conveniently carried on in
conjunction with the previously listed
functions. A share of its profits is used
to support community projects and
causes.
The trust’s area is defined
by boundary lines drawn on
historic local body ward or riding
boundaries. The Trust has recently
changed its ward structure. For the
2016 triennial local body elections
5 members will be elected at large
over a single ward structure.

distributed hundreds of
thousands of dollars
back into the
community. The Trust
acknowledges the
continuous support
that OLT businesses
receive from the
local and wider
public which assists
in ensuring funding is
returned back into the

The decision on which
organisations are successful is still
made by local people.The Grants
Distribution committee consists of
five elected Oamaru Licensing Trust
members and one independently
appointed local resident.
All monies generated through the
gaming machines in the Oamaru
Licensing Trust establishments are
returned to North Otago based
organisations.
