Silk Way launches first cargo flight to Brazil
BAKU: Silk Way West Airlines,
Azerbaijan's state-owned freight
carrier, launched its first direct cargo
flight from the capital Baku to Sao
Paulo, Brazil, marking its new venture
in South America.
Carrying 36 tons of cargo dispatched
from China to a car manufacturing
company in Brazil, the 15-hour flight
took of f f ro m H e y d a r A l i y e v
International Airport to Viracopos
International Airport on the modern
Boeing 747-8F aircraft, the carrier's
longest direct route in its history.
Launched in 2012, the freight carrier
operates regular and charter flights to
Asia, Europe, the Middle East and
North America.
In Dubai, Silk Way West Airlines is an
important element in the UAE's
growing trade relations with
Azerbaijan and other countries in the
Caspian region.

been substantial growth in exchange

of goods and services between the
two countries over the past several
years.
UAE's trade with Azerbaijan in the first
nine months of 2017 rose to AED679
million divided into imports with

AED133.4 million, and re-exports with
AED541.4m.
Azerbaijan and UAE officials met
recently as they work on further
strengthening business and cultural
relations between their countries.

clients to benefit from the different
incentives and advantages Dubai
offers,” said Musabih.
