Indicators measur<strong>in</strong>g SDG 11 <strong>EU</strong> <strong>progress</strong>,<br />

short-term trends:<br />

seeks to implement <strong>the</strong> commitment to <strong>the</strong> United<br />

Nations Framework Convention on Climate<br />

Ch<strong>an</strong>ge <strong>an</strong>d fur<strong>the</strong>r operationalis<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Green Climate Fund. It<br />

aims to streng<strong>the</strong>n countries’ resilience <strong>an</strong>d adaptive capacity to<br />

climate-related hazards <strong>an</strong>d natural disasters by <strong>in</strong>tegrat<strong>in</strong>g climate<br />

ch<strong>an</strong>ge mitigation <strong>an</strong>d adaptation measures <strong>in</strong>to national strategies,<br />

policies <strong>an</strong>d pl<strong>an</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g. This also requires improved education,<br />

awareness-rais<strong>in</strong>g <strong>an</strong>d capacity on climate ch<strong>an</strong>ge mitigation <strong>an</strong>d<br />

adaptation, as envisioned by SDG 13. As <strong>the</strong> poorest <strong>an</strong>d most vulnerable<br />

people are affected <strong>the</strong> most by climate ch<strong>an</strong>ge impacts,<br />

SDG 13 calls specifically for rais<strong>in</strong>g capacity for climate-ch<strong>an</strong>ge related<br />

pl<strong>an</strong>n<strong>in</strong>g <strong>an</strong>d m<strong>an</strong>agement <strong>in</strong> least developed countries.<br />

The <strong>EU</strong> focuses on monitor<strong>in</strong>g <strong>progress</strong> <strong>in</strong> climate mitigation efforts,<br />

<strong>in</strong> reduc<strong>in</strong>g climate impacts <strong>an</strong>d <strong>in</strong> establish<strong>in</strong>g climate <strong>in</strong>itiatives.<br />
