GREENWOOD
VILLAGE CONNECTS
KICK-OFF
The issue of traffic congestion
significantly impacts the economy
and quality of life of our state, region,
and community. We can
all attest to experiencing
some form of traffic
congestion daily whether
it’s driving to work
during the morning rush
hour, taking our children
to school, or venturing
out to run errands
during the lunch hour.
Traffic congestion will
continue to be a part of
our lives as our region
continues to grow and
develop accordingly.
Greenwood Village must
take an active role to develop a plan to
manage it in our Village!
Over the course of the next 18
months, you will hear and see
information about Greenwood Village
Connects, a very important initiative
for us to develop a new Transportation
Master Plan to address traffic issues in
and around Greenwood Village. The
Master Plan will meet the needs and
desires of citizens which is why it is
imperative that you get involved and
ensure your voices are heard.
Community input will guide the
outcome of the Village Transportation
Master Plan. We will gather your
comments, concerns and ideas
throughout the process through a
series of open houses, online
engagement, surveys, and more! I call
your attention to page 9 for
information about our first open
house. We encourage you to attend,
however, if you are unable to make it,
don’t worry. You will have plenty of
opportunities to express your views on
transportation in Greenwood Village.
SOUTH METRO FIRE
RESCUE AUTHORITY
RECEIVES
HIGHEST RATING
Effective January 1, 2018, the
Insurance Services Office, a national
fire insurance rating organization,
presented South Metro Fire Rescue
Authority (SMFRA) with the
distinguished “Class 1” rating — a
very significant event for the
community and property owners.
The ISO rating is evaluated
approximately every five years, and
South Metro’s
previous rating was a
“Class 3.” Moving to
a “Class 1” places
South Metro in the
prestigious group of
only 240
departments with an
ISO rating of 1 out
of the 44,672
departments in the
United States.
Other than SMFRA, there are four
departments in Colorado that have an
ISO rating “Class 1” [Federal Heights,
Cunningham, (now part of SMFRA)
Westminster, and Adams County].
South Metro is the first department in
the country with an ISO “Class 1” in
hauled water/non-hydrant areas, an
important issue for rural areas in
Greenwood Village.
The new rating, combined with
SMFRA’s international accreditation
from the Commission on Fire
Accreditation International, is a
prestigious designation that few fire
protection districts in the nation have
achieved.
The “Class 1” rating is based on South
Metro’s ability to suppress fires,
