November is Here!
It seemed like everyone at Holualoa School blinked twice and
the October events and festivities were over. October was a fun
filled month for the Holualoa keiki, with Fall break giving way to
the Halloween and fall festivities. The character trait of the
month is to be a "quality producer," and students as our students
continue to show growth in neatness and attending to
precision. Even though the holidays are officially upon us, our
Holualoa kids continue to work hard on:
-Daily reading at school and at home to improve proficiency
scores.
-Writing meaningful sentences in their Reading Response logs.
-Attacking those tricky math problems in a variety of ways in
school and at home.
-Treating everyone with the kindness, respect, and problem
solving skills that Holualoans are famous for.
October was a busy month, but November may be even
busier.
Here’s what's in the news.
celebrate Holualoa Halloween activities. Thanks to New Life and other
organizations that helped sponsor the fun event for the children. The
kids were jumping through castles, admiring jack-o-lanterns, enjoying
shave ice, and generally having a blast at this community
event. Thanks to all the parents who donated candy, and came to
Parent Teacher Conference: Amazing Turn-out!
On October 30 and 31, our parents were welcomed on campus for two straight days to celebrate
parent teacher conferences with the Holualoa School teachers. The relationship with your child's
teacher is so important to maximize your child's success. It was great to see how much kind,
intelligent, and friendly parents took time out of their busy schedules to discuss academic goals with
the teachers. Thank you for your support of your child and the Holualoa School teacher!
WASA Potluck Diner
Join Us Tues, Nov.14-- Holualoa Cafeteria 5:30-7:00 This is an opportunity to meet the members of the
WASC Visitation Committee* and talk to them about your involvement at the school and the various
education of your child.
Smartphones. Tablets. E-books, and more. The explosion of new screen devices offers both possibilities
and challenges for families today. When should children be introduced to screens? How much time
should they spend with screens? Is screen time helpful or harmful to children’s brain development? Does
