4 LETTER TO OWNERS Letter to Owners Dear Fellow Stockholders, Lion Street was founded on the basic principle that there is significant value in a national network owned and governed by its producers. As a life-centric firm, you invested in what you know, alongside people you know, and where your production and referrals can significantly influence the outcome of the company, and consequently, your investment. Our vision is closing in on reality. We have quality Firms in nearly all significant markets. Our “Firm behind the Firm” in Austin has 60 full-time employees dedicated to helping Lion Street Owners grow and prosper. At the end of 2015, your Board asked us to develop a four-year financial plan for the company. It had very aggressive goals for revenue and profitability growth. I am pleased to share that we are on target after year two to achieve these ambitious numbers. Bob Carter Founder & CEO Here are the highlights of our 2017 success: Life insurance, our core business, continued to show real strength reflecting our commitment to this space. • Thirty new firms completed the Executive Committee process and became Owners—one of our strongest and largest classes ever. • We were a “top three” producer group for five major carriers. • We hired Adam Sandahl to lead the Corporate & Business Solutions Unit of Lion Street. Combined with our proprietary Non-qualified Administration System, we are positioned to gain meaningful market share in this arena. Our Lion Street Financial team has had an incredible year of growth and was awarded “Broker-Dealer of the Year” by Investment Advisor for the second consecutive year. Our 2018 focus will be on: • Discovering and implementing world class technology to accelerate cases thru underwriting at faster speeds. • Expanding the Trusted Advisor Program to become the source for pertinent information among attorneys and accountants about products and strategies. • Continuing to equip our Firm Builders to develop more efficient and profitable firms.
