Husband: Bruce Bergherm, ‘75 Wife: Ellen (Cunningham) Bergherm, ‘75 Wedding Date: May 21, 1978 The Bergherms The Bergherms on their Wedding Day Bruce and Ellen at GCA The Burchards Their Love Story: Bruce and Ellen first met at summer camp when they were about 12 years old. A few years later they met again at GCA. Bruce asked Ellen to go with him to the Sound of Music. Ellen said “no” but he asked again and again. After Bruce’s third attempt Ellen said “yes!” She loves a man that will not take “no” for an answer! Ellen says Bruce is still like that today, and she loves him even more. They thank God for blessing them with each other. They both love GCA and cherish their memories and the friends that they still have from their high school days. Attending GCA was truly one of the happiest times in their lives. Current photo of Bruce and Ellen Where They Are Now: Bruce is currently the Senior Executive Officer for Acute Care Services at Florida Hospital - West Florida Division, which includes 12 hospitals at this time. Ellen and Bruce are currently making their 15th move. This move is from Sebring to Tampa, Fla. They are very thankful for the lives God has given them. Husband: Trevin Burchard, ‘11 Wife: Danielle “Dany” (Drapiza) Burchard, ‘11 Wedding Date: June 9, 2013 Their Love Story: On June 9th, 2013, Trevin got to watch his best friend walk down the aisle towards him – one of the most extraordinary moments of his life. Dany was the picture of beauty that day, aglow with the sparkle of a Disney princess. They were surrounded by people they loved in a place that meant so much to them, the place where it all began – GCA. Six years before that day, they could never have imagined that the person sitting next to them in Dr. Harper’s freshmen Bible class would become the person they would want to spend the rest of their lives with. It was at GCA that they built the foundation of their relationship. They created many lasting memories together, such as Camerata trips, Afterglow, and sunny Sabbath afternoons on center campus. Through these experiences and the bonds they had with the faculty at GCA, they learned that the key to a successful relationship is to always keep God as the focus. It is this key that has carried them through GCA and beyond, guiding them in their college experiences, and leading them in their careers, and inspiring them to build the beautiful marriage they have today. Where They Are Now: Trevin and Dany graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga within the past year. Trevin received a B.S. in psychology. Dany received a B.S. in middle grades education. They are currently living in Fukuoka, Japan where they are both teaching English. After a year in Japan, they plan to return to the U.S. to begin working on their master’s degrees. The Cloughs Husband: Nick Clough, ‘06 Wife: Mechele (Schmidt) Clough, ‘06 Wedding Date: August 3, 2008 Their Love Story: Nick and Mechele met at GCA during their sophomore year. They were in the same group of friends, remaining friends throughout their sophomore and junior year. During their senior year Nick and Mechele were both resident assistants (R.A.s) in the dorms which gave them reason to start hanging out more. They began dating during their senior year. After graduation they went to SAU and got married during college. Nick and Mechele at GCA Where They Are Now: Nick and Mechele recently moved from N.C. to Cookeville, Tenn. after Nick graduated from Family Medicine Residency in June of 2017. Nick joined his father in his medical practice in Livingston, Tenn. Mechele is a physical therapist. The Cloughs on their Wedding Day Current Photo of the Cloughs Husband: Darren Fowler, ‘06 Wife: Jennifer (Small) Fowler, ‘06 Wedding Date: February 23, 2013 The Fowlers The Fowlers on their Wedding Day Darren and Jennifer at GCA Their Love Story: Darren and Jenny met in their freshman year at GCA. They were not in the same friend group, and did not spend time together very often, but Jenny thought Darren was quite cute and funny. She kept finding ways to hang out with Darren. During their sophomore year Jenny asked Darren to come to a driver’s education class with her. Their story basically started then as they were fairly inseparable after that. They became really good friends until Darren finally asked Jenny to be his girlfriend at the end of their sophomore year. They were “off and on” for about eight years. Darren proposed on Christmas Eve in 2012, and they married the following February. Where They Are Now: Darren and Jenny live in Calhoun, Ga. with their two children: four-year-old Stella and one-year-old Jack. Darren is currently working at Hamilton Medical Center as the Director of IT. Jenny works for Gordon Hospital at North Georgia Cancer Care as an infusion nurse.
