2017: KIDROP Recap!!<br />
The year witnessed 18,540 infant imaging sessions (grand total is 1,14,578 since inception), 4645 new premature<br />
infants recruited (grand total stands at 33,474) and 203 laser treatment (grand total is 1950). The<br />
FOREVER (Universal Screening) program continues its Phase 2 across the state with the grand total<br />
now being 3704 infants. The year also saw us cross our 100,000th infant imaging session since<br />
inception.<br />
The year’s most significant milestone was being awarded the prestigious International Agency for the<br />
Prevention of Blindness (IAPB) grant for KIDROP’s services and training activities under the “Seeing is<br />
Believing Programme”. IAPB is a leading INGO and collaborates with the World Health Organization<br />
for <strong>Vision</strong> 2020.<br />
Internationally, KIDROP was invited as faculty at the 4th World Congress in ROP at Mexico and the<br />
<strong>First</strong> International Pediatric Retina Congress in USA along with other meetings at Hong Kong, Malaysia<br />
and at the ARVO Annual meeting.<br />
Within the country, KIDROP participated in workshops and symposia in Bhopal, Raipur, Jaipur, Pune,<br />
Hyderabad, Solapur, Aurangabad, Kolar, Mumbai, Goa, Gwalior, Delhi, Bhubaneswar, Bilaspur and<br />
Bangalore. KIDROP continues to be the Secretariat of the Indian ROP (IROP) Society and a member<br />
of the National Task Force for ROP, Government of India.<br />
