Series of car burglaries strike Lake Bluff

This is Toby! Toby is
Shih Tzu mix and about
15 years old. Toby is
currently a foster dog
with the Burke family until he finds a forever
family where he can enjoy his twilight years.
Toby’s favorite hobbies are napping, eating, going
for walks, watching TV and getting back scratches.
He is a laid-back little old man with a pep in
his step. He gets along well with children, cats

More than five burglaries
to motor vehicles were
reported on Feb. 28 in
Lake Bluff.
• Burglary to a motor vehicle
was reported at 6:09
a.m. in the 400 block of
W. Hawthorne Court. The
owner reported last seeing
the vehicle at 6 p.m. and
reported no irregularities
at that time. The vehicle
was unlocked and miscellaneous
items were taken.
• Burglary to a motor vehicle
was reported at 6:37
a.m. in the 400 block of
W. Hawthorne Court. The
owner reported last seeing
the vehicle at 1 a.m. and
reported no irregularities
with the vehicle at that
time. The vehicle was left
unlocked and miscellaneous
items were taken.
• A speedway rewards
card, AAA card, State
Farm Insurance card, shell
gas card and a pair of sunglasses
were found in a
parkway at 7:07 a.m. in the
intersection of E. Center
Avenue and Glen Avenue.
Upon further investigation,
it was learned the items
belonged to the owners in
the 300 block of E. Center
Avenue. The owners stated
the items were theirs and
must have been taken from
their vehicle. The owners
checked the vehicle and
advised nothing else was
missing and that the only
items taken were gas cards
and a pair of sunglasses.
• Burglary to a motor vehicle
was reported at 10:24
a.m. in the 600 block of
Maple Avenue.
• Burglary to motor vehicle
was reported at 11:25
a.m. in the 600 block of E.
Prospect Avenue. Miscellaneous
items and change
were stolen.
• Burglary to a motor vehicle
was reported at 11:53
a.m. in the 600 block of E.
Scranton Avenue.
• Officer responded to a
delayed report of criminal
trespass to a motor vehicle
at 8:38 p.m. The complainant
advised he parked his
vehicle in his driveway on
Feb. 27 at approximately 7
p.m. The complainant returned
to his vehicle on Feb.
28 at approximately 6:15
a.m. and discovered his belongings
had been scattered
throughout his vehicle. The
complainant advised nothing
of value was taken except
possibly $2 in change
from the ashtray. The complainant
advised the vehicle
had been left unlocked.

Lake Forest:
March 6
• Dominque M. Williams,
26, of Gurnee, was
charged with speeding and
driving with a revoked
driver’s license at 1:06
p.m. in the intersection of
Route 41 and Gage Lane.
Officers on routine patrol
conducted a traffic stop on
a red Dodge Charger after
observing the vehicle traveling
75 mph in a posted
55 mph speed zone. When
officers approached the
vehicle and spoke to the
driver, identified as Williams,
they determined her
driver’s license was revoked
for a 2016 DUI.
March 4
• Wilder A. Reyes-Cruz,
26, of Highwood, was
charged with driving with
a revoked driver’s license
at 6 p.m. in the intersection
of Sheridan Road and
Walnut Road. Police on
routine patrol in the area of
Sheridan Road and Walnut
Road conducted a traffic
stop on a blue Nissan for a
moving violation. Officers
spoke to the driver, identified
as Reyes-Cruz, and
determined his driver’s license
was revoked.
March 2
• Zachery M. Crockett Jr.,
19, of Green Bay, Wis., was
charged with driving with a
suspended driver’s license
at 5:07 p.m. in the intersection
of Route 41 and Route
60. Police were called to a
traffic crash at the intersection
of Route 60 and Route
41. On the scene, officers
spoke with both drivers
and learned Crockett was
driving with a suspended
driver’s license.
Lake Bluff:
March 3
• A property damage accident
was reported at 1:20
p.m. in the intersection of
W. Washington Avenue
and Route 41.
• A two-vehicle accident
was reported at 3:15 p.m.
in the Public Safety Building.
The accident occurred
in the 900 block of Rockland
Road.
Feb. 27
• Delayed retail theft was
reported at 9:31 a.m. in
the 900 block of Rockland
Road.
Feb. 26
• Assault was reported at
9:17 a.m. in the 200 block
of S. Waukegan Road. One
subject was arrested.
• A juvenile was reported
missing at 4:57 p.m. in the
29000 block of N. Birch
Avenue. The juvenile was
later located at school.

Five people inside Lake Forest house fire not injured

A fire was reported in
the roof of a single-family
residence, with five occupants
inside the home, at
3:19 p.m. Friday, March 9,
on Lake Road in Lake Forest,
according to a press release
from the Lake Forest
Fire Department.
At the time of the call,
there were five people inside
the home. When units
arrived on scene, there were
still at least two people inside
the home, according to
Battalion Chief Matt Penar.
There were no injuries to
the occupants of the home
or emergency personnel.
The alarm was upgraded
to get more responding
units, according to the release.
