CRESSAGE Despite a very cold evening the AGM in January was well supported. Sally Lucas-Garner, Chair, welcomed everyone and gave details of the Club’s progress and growth during 2017. Jan Halmshaw Secretary, gave a brief resume of visiting speakers and visits CGC had made to other gardens and places of interest during the past year. Two members, Edie Alvis and Marjorie Vickers, who had served on the committee since CGC’s founding 12 years previous, tendered their resignation. They were thanked for their years of faithful service and presented with a gardening gift voucher, an Orchid and card of thanks. The remaining Committee members were re-elected. Mark Hall from Harper Adams, the award winning vegetable grower, is due to make a welcome return to CGC during mid-February. Due to publishing dates there will be a full report on Mark’s visit next month. Forthcoming Speakers and Events: 15 March…..Nick Swankie Head Gardener at Benthall Hall (NT property) nr Broseley 19 April………Jack Wilgoss making a return visit speaking on a ‘Late Summer Love Affair’ 17 May………Planned visit to Ruthall Manor, Ditton Priors 21 June………Jenny Steele from Craven Arms ‘Bees, Butterflies and other pollinators’ New members welcome. Contact Jan on 01952 510594 for further information. Meetings 3 rd Thursday of every month in Cressage Village Hall at 7.30pm unless otherwise stated. Missed Rubbish or Recycling Collections If your recycling, rubbish or garden waste is not collected as expected you must report your missed collection to Shropshire Council within two working days by calling 0345 678 9007. Before you report a missed collection please wait until 5pm (because the collection crews may still be out working). Also check: • that your containers were out on the right day. • that your containers were out by 7am • that your containers were out in the correct place • that your lid was closed and no extra waste was next to your bin • that the correct waste was in the containers Shropshire Council will investigate the incident and if your collection has genuinely been missed they will come back and collect it within two working days. 20
