I hope you’ve heard about our current
Season of Prayer. If you haven’t, where
have you been?! We’ve been really
encouraged by the way people have
responded and it’s been fantastic to
see big numbers at all our prayer
gatherings so far. During this time
we’ve been working hard to create
space to seek God and discern where
he might be leading us. One thing
that’s emerged, as we’ve been praying
together, is that we find it easier to
talk to God than to listen to God. In
many ways, we’ve been taking baby
steps, but it’s been thrilling to see how
God can speak powerfully through his
people as we pray together.
If you haven’t been a part of the
Season of Prayer so far, there’s still
time. We have events running every
day in the lead up to Good Friday.
One of the messages we’ve been
hearing consistently throughout this
Season of Prayer is the necessity of
spiritual vitality. Prayer, dependence
on God, and a deep compassion for the
lost are all essential features of a
healthy church. We’ve also shared a lot
about the need for greater engagement
with our immediate neighbours here in
Townsend and Strouden Park. This will
inevitably involve change and may
seem costly at times, but scripture
calls us to “become all things to all
people so that by all possible means
[we] might save some” (1 Corinthians
9:22). What might it mean for us to
identify with the people of Townsend,
Strouden Park, and the rest of
Bournemouth, in order to win some?
