FROM THE CEO In this issue, we celebrate your incredible work and dedication to our industry. I commend you on another year of business success and collaboration. It is because of you that our communities thrive! And while we celebrate last year’s successes, we also look to the future. In April, we will welcome Michelle Mills Clement, our new CEO, to the association. I am excited to hand her the baton and confident she is the right person to fulfill this role. I look forward to working with her to ensure a successful transition. It has been my great pleasure serving as your Chief Executive Officer for the past thirteen years. But I’m not going away entirely — I am partnering with a colleague and close friend, Alice Martin, in the consulting firm of Martin & Downs. We will be working with associations around the country on many of the things I helped put in motion here at CAR: organizational development, planning, leadership and staff development, collaboration and diversity strategies, and much, much more. I’m also thrilled to be able to spend more time with my family on the West Coast, and of course, take up full-time residence in the Palm Desert, CA area with my husband, Bruce, and our five rescued cats — don’t ask, it’s a disease. In parting, I leave you with some old lady wisdom: work hard and learn something new everyday which will grow your business acumen as a real estate professional. Be accountable. Treat others with civility. Be a responsible citizen. Embrace diversity, for it is the fabric of our community — in perspective, thoughts, culture, experiences and expertise. Be a leader others want to follow. Lastly, VOLUNTEER — whether at C.A.R. or with another organization or cause you hold passionately. I encourage you, as always, to be engaged with the association. Give us your feedback, so that we can better serve your needs. Our volunteer leadership and staff are outstanding — and I know they will continue to provide you value now, and in the years to come. Thank you again for allowing me the privilege of serving as your CEO from 2005 – <strong>2018</strong>. My life is far richer for this incredible opportunity.
