“Safe Routes to School”<br />

Walk for Fitness and Fun<br />

Start Walking<br />

Tuesdays , April 10 - May 29<br />

Five different Safe Routes to School (SRTS) will be offered to the public and parochial<br />

elementary schools in Fairmont this <strong>Spring</strong>. Current Crosswalk Guards and<br />

adult volunteers will walk with the children to their respective schools. Bikers are<br />

also welcome to join. SRTS will operate on Tuesday mornings beginning April 10.<br />

Can you give a half-hour one morning a week to promote safe walking for our<br />

youth? Adult volunteers are needed to walk with youth on 5 different routes. Call<br />

Joe Burns (399-1346) with any questions. The chaperoned routes will begin at the<br />

following locations: Salvation Army, Charlotte Park, Intersection of Day and Orient<br />

Street, Aquatic Park and Bird Park. Parents may drop their kids off at one of<br />

the locations or anywhere along the 5 routes.<br />

no place here! Join three Fairmont Elementary<br />

teachers, Ms. Driscoll, Ms.<br />

Olson, and Ms. Klitzke, for five afternoons<br />

filled with summer fun! Events<br />

include a visit to the Aquatic Park,<br />

Dairy Freeze, a movie, and popcorn,<br />

game play, and tie-dying t-shirts! Fee:<br />

$9 Deadline to register July 3.<br />

City Band Musicians Needed!<br />

This volunteer group of musicians<br />

from the Fairmont area provide musical<br />

entertainment, enjoyment, and<br />

good will to the community during its<br />

summer concert series on Tuesday<br />

evenings June 12, 19, 26, July 10 and<br />

Wednesday, July 4 at Sylvania Park<br />

Band Shell. Rehearsals begin at 6:15<br />

pm and concerts are at 8:00. There are<br />

no auditions, tryouts or solos required<br />

to participate, and membership is open<br />

to all instrumentalists, 10th grade and<br />

Mini Golf Fun<br />

for Adults<br />

indoor elementary phy-ed temporary<br />

mini golf set up. Handicapped accessible<br />

course, Caregivers encouraged to<br />

come with their friends. Free! Preregistration<br />
