Ashe Peacock
Ashe Peacock studied fine art in Perth, Western Australia and
began painting in oils 5 years ago after leaving the fashion
industry in London.
Ashe works traditionally in oils, concentrating mainly on
portrait commissions and still life.
Richard Milo
Jane Sheppard
Working with clay in a direct and personal way is deeply connecting. My forms are
made using simple processes (coiling, pinching, smoke firing) which allow me to
work spontaneously and with the elements. The work varies in scale from large
sculptural forms based on monoliths, to simple tiny bowls made in the palm of my
hand under a full moon or beneath a tree. Embracing imperfection is important, to
create unique pieces that sing in their own space.
Clay is a very receptive medium and I work with large, universal themes - death,
rebirth, and the interface where the sacred meets the domestic. Universal symbols
and patterns find their way into surface decoration
until it’s hard to place the pieces in a historical or
cultural framework.
Ultimately, it’s the process of making that excites me
the most. Each piece provides a gift in the form of
a journey rooted in the rhythm of history. They are
markers of time, humanity and mystery.
Richard Milo is a painter and illustrator and was
born in Edinburgh 1971. He finished College of
applied arts, graphics department and Academy
of fine arts, graphics department in Skopje.
Had solo exhibitions in Skopje, Malmo and
Stuttgart. Worked as Set designer for numerous
theatre and film projects. Animation, antique
paintings restaurateur, Illustrator and designer.
Author of a coming of age novel. Lived and
worked in London, Brighton, Zurich, Prague,
Skopje, Schaffhausen, Winterthur. Bath resident
since 2015. His latest work is portraiture and
illustration.
“I study the invisible as much as I study the
appearance. I resort to forms of expression
suitable to the subject so my work is not much
bound to style or medium. As for the inspiration
I am very much taken by the splendour of
transience.”
Susannah Lemon
As a designer maker who works with bicycle waste and other found
materials, Susannah loves the challenge of upcycling other people’s rubbish
into more desirable items of use. The LED table lamp shown was made from
old bicycle chains and rubber inner tubes suspended from a steel wire frame.
Susannah graduated in 3D Design from Bath Spa University in 2017.
Repeat, Rehash: Alice Card-Hall
15th June – 29th June: 12.00-5.00pm
Open Evening: Thursday 14th June, 6.00-8.00pm
An exploration of the ways in which printmaking can inhabit a sculptural space.
The first solo exhibition by emerging installation printmaker Alice Card-Hall.
Printed scrolls of paper are draped, wrapped and rolled, manoeuvring and flowing
through the gallery space. Shapes created by these compositions inspire line-work
from which new print plates are born, and the cycle of print, installation and reconstruction
continues!
Lino and wood cuts build up oscillating designs, and monoprints dissolve into white:
Each print seen here is hand pressed by the artist. The resulting tonal qualities
make each edition individual despite the reuse of print plates. This creates a playful
relationship between ideas of autonomy and mass production of artworks.
Mapping the Inner World: Beverley Ferguson
Thursday 5th July –Wednesday 11th July 12.00-5.00pm
Open Evening: Thursday 5th July 6-8.00pm: Open Evening
Using paper medical notes both in my work and as starting points I create a visual
narrative for my experiences in the mental health system. I respond to and explore
through a variety of textures: paper, textiles, sound and mixed media the notion
of ‘sections.’ How it feels to be separated and cut off from the outside world by
illness informs much of my work. It is also a celebration of life, as renewal and
vitality return. These changing patterns are expressed by my use of design, form,
colour and rhythm. The creative process enables me to begin to build bridges,
making a map for my inner world.
This exhibition is the culmination of Alice’s residency at Bath Artist Studios’,
showcasing a range of prints which fall somewhere between image and object.
Friday 6th July 12.30-1.30pm: ‘In conversation’ with Beverley Ferguson & Fay
Stevens. Fay is an academic, curator, artist and writer.
This Summer we are again offering the very popular Art Summer Camp for 9-14
year olds. During the 5 days, children will be able to develop their own creative
style, through the media of drawing, painting and ceramics, they will focus on skills
such as proportion, perspective and observational drawing. In the ceramics
classes, they will use clay to develop their 3D construction techniques. At
24
the end of the week there will be an exhibition in the Roper Gallery of Bath
Artists’ Studios.
