Step-by-step transformation<br />
In continuing to embrace digital<br />
transformation, we made progress toward<br />
moving our entire IT infrastructure to a<br />
cloud-based platform. Our IT teams also<br />
completed the first-phase rollout of Office<br />
365 to all users. Not only has this put users<br />
on a common platform, it has created an<br />
active digital support community.<br />
Even more, various newly launched website<br />
and mobile applications engage customers<br />
and provide detailed metrics to our sales<br />
and marketing teams. Shared internal<br />
platforms and applications powered by<br />
common content ensure that our local<br />
sales teams always have up-to-date and<br />
relevant content at their fingertips.<br />
Finance and tax<br />
Financial operations are managed on<br />
company, division and corporate level. This<br />
set-up partners <strong>Etex</strong>’s corporate structure<br />
with our divisions to provide streamlined,<br />
relevant and up-to-date financial insights<br />
that support our three-pillar agenda.<br />
We also aligned our finance and tax<br />
processes with <strong>Etex</strong>’s global divisional<br />
structure. To combine profitable growth<br />
with a transparent role as a responsible<br />
corporate citizen, the key principles<br />
governing our global tax strategy are:<br />
• well-defined policies for tax<br />
risk management;<br />
• thorough risk assessments before<br />
entering any tax planning strategy;<br />
• full compliance with all<br />
statutory obligations;<br />
• good relations with tax authorities.<br />
We proactively manage our tax affairs<br />
and seek to maximise shareholder value in<br />
accordance with applicable law.<br />
A new legal community<br />
Throughout 2017, we built a robust legal<br />
organisation for greater visibility into<br />
compliance and risk assessment.<br />
We adopted a group-wide anti-bribery<br />
and corruption policy and put dedicated<br />
resources into place to ensure <strong>Etex</strong> is<br />
compliant with the General Data Protection<br />
Regulation by May 2018.<br />

are becoming ever more visible across<br />
our company. Our values act as guiding<br />
principles across the organisation. We are<br />
starting to see strong alignment on finding<br />
common value that supports our objective<br />
to build one <strong>Etex</strong> culture.<br />

Safety is key<br />
Every single employee should go home<br />
safely at the end of each day. Our zero<br />
accident target is testament to this<br />
commitment. To further this pledge,<br />
this year, we put a particular focus on<br />
improving behavioural safety. A range of<br />
safety initiatives and programmes remain<br />
high on our safety agenda, reinforced by<br />
our three-pronged safety strategy for safe<br />
machines, procedures and behaviours.<br />
ppIn 2017, we increased our focus to<br />
improve safe behaviour through accountable<br />
leadership by training 6,000 employees in<br />
SafeStart and by training all managers to<br />
deliver quality safety conversations.<br />
