MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY MUSIC SOCIETY (MUMS) Completely student-led and open to all, Manchester University Music Society (MUMS) provides its members with a huge variety of performance opportunities all year round. Evening Concerts Venue Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall Time & Date 7.30pm, Saturday 17 February 2018 Price £10.50 / £6.50 / £3 Chamber Concert Programme to include: Saariaho Terra Memoria Tchaikovsky Serenade Hussey Twisted Skyscape Chamber Orchestra MUMS Chamber Orchestra returns, featuring Terra Memoria by Saariaho and Tchaikovsky’s Serenade. There will also be performances of the enthralling work by Christopher Hussey, Twisted Skyscape, and two new student works. Opera Evening Theme: ‘War and Conflict’ Programme to include: James Keirle Not On The List Purcell Dido and Aeneas and various opera scenes This is sure to be a gripping evening of opera, on the theme of war and conflict. Recent University alumnus James Keirle’s contemporary opera Not On The List will be performed, as well as Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and various opera scenes. Manchester University Symphony Orchestra Programme to include: Thorvaldsdottir Aeriality Sibelius Violin Concerto Bax Tintagel Sibelius Tapiola Following on from their hugely successful performance of Shostakovich’s 10th symphony, Symphony Orchestra features two works by Sibelius including his Violin Concerto, with soloist Libby Sherwood. The concert also includes Aeriliaty by Thorvaldsdottir and Tintagel by Bax. There will be a widely varied set featuring the works of many distinguished composers, including Mozart, Fauré and an all-female composed programme from Wind Orchestra.
