renowned resident string quartet.<br />
The Quatuor Danel’s thirteenth season continues into the <strong>spring</strong>.<br />
Seize the opportunity to hear chamber music at its most thrilling, daring and intimate,<br />
there’s arguably no better place to start!<br />
Enjoy ground breaking works by Enescu and Shostakovich, and more recent works by<br />
Olga Neuwirth, Régis Campo and Sofia Gubaidulina. Come and join us!<br />
All concerts take place in the Cosmo Rodewald Concert Hall unless otherwise stated.<br />
Please note that there is reserved seating for all Quatuor Danel evening and afternoon<br />
concerts at the MHC. Seating for all Thursday lunchtime concerts is unreserved.<br />
The Thursday lunchtime concerts are part of the Walter Carroll<br />
Lunchtime Concert Series, which is supported by the Ida Carroll Trust.<br />

A concert of contrasts is offered here, ranging from the late-Romantic lyricism<br />
of Webern’s Langsamer Satz to a new work by Marsellais composer Régis Campo<br />
and the uncompromising collision of starkly coloured gestures that constitute<br />
Neuwirth’s Akroate Hadal.<br />

The Quatuor Danel workshops new compositions by postgraduate students of<br />
the University.<br />

Piano Quintet in A minor, Op. 29 (with Richard Whalley)<br />
A fascinating juxtaposition of the intensely wrought yet expansive lyricism<br />
of Franck’s only string quartet with the deft refinement and constant flux of<br />
Enescu’s Piano Quintet.<br />
