WALTER CARROLL LUNCHTIME

WALTER CARROLL LUNCHTIME CONCERT SERIES The Thursday lunchtime concerts are part of the Walter Carroll Lunchtime Concert Series, which is supported by the Ida Carroll Trust. They provide a wide-ranging programme to suit all tastes and are an ideal opportunity to enjoy great music performed by outstanding musicians. There’s no need to book – the concerts are free and you can just turn up on the day. Ignacio Lara Romero (violin) and Richard Whalley (piano) Charles Ives Camden Reeves Sonata for Violin and Piano No.3, S.62 (K. 2C6) (1913-1914) Gorgon’s Head II (World première) In the longest of Ives’s four violin and piano sonatas everything is on a symphonic scale. In stark contrast, in Camden Reeves’s new work, inspired by the form of the Gorgonocephalus caputmeduse basket star, things start small and grow. Like crazy.
