NEW BIM OUTSOURCING COMPANY CREATED
Liverpool-based mechanical
and electrical specialists
Steven Hunt & Associates have
announced the formation of a
brand-new sister business,
Digital Engineering Studio, that
aims to empower the construction
industry with the latest BIM
technology.
Digital Engineering Studio is a
professional BIM outsource
provider that specialises in the
creation of fully coordinated
Revit MEP models and virtual
drawings to streamline the construction
process, reduce
waste and eliminate unnecessary
delays.
BIM modelling forms the central
focus for the new outsourcing
partner. The in-house team
of specialists will work behind
the scenes with clients to transform
drawings and earlydesigns
into fully functional 3D
models, which can then be
populated with data requirements
that will be easy to navigate
and update.
Steve Hunt, co-founder of
Digital Engineering Studio and
managing director of Steven
Hunt & Associates, said: "Having
worked in the construction
industry for over 35 years, I
have learned how valuable
data and open communication
can be when working on building
projects of all scales.
"Using all of the lessons that
we have learnt from our work at
Steven Hunt & Associates, we
hope to help clients flourish in
this new digital age, help partners
collaborate and to provide
a simple solution so that clients
can harness all of their information
in one manageable space.
Dominic Sibbring, co-founder
and managing director of Digital
Engineering Studio, BIM
level 2 certificated practitioner
with BRE and BIM manager of
Steven Hunt & Associates,
said: "Steve and I have been
working together for over 10
years and often deal with companies
who want to take the
leap into BIM but don't have
the capability. The upskilling of
existing staff and the financial
outlay on new hardware and
software often means it is a
nonstarter for many businesses.
Equally, many businesses
are fully capable of delivering
BIM projects but suffer with
peak periods where deadlines
mount up and their workforce
struggle to meet the demand.
Using an outsourcing service
like ours enables clients to
benefit from our team's expertise
and to get a tailored service
that adapts to their specific
project requirements and
company standards quickly."
LIFE CYCLE ASSESSMENT PARTNERSHIP
IES have partnered with One
Click LCA for Life Cycle
Assessment (LCA) & Life
Cycle Costing (LCC) calculations.
The combined offering
can deliver over 50 credits in
BREEAM UK NC 2018 and
complies with all BREEAM
and LEED versions. A new
step-by-step Navigator for
One Click LCA within IES Virtual
Environment (IESVE) provides
seamless automation,
makes undertaking LCA and
LCC easier than ever, and
replaces the previous IES
IMPACT Suite.
Panu Pasanen, CEO of
Bionova, the developers of
One Click LCA said "Together
with IES we enable holistic
LCA and LCC optimisation
and global compliance. This
powerful partnership makes
Life Cycle Assessment and
Costing easier, faster, and
more accessible."
LATEST ALLPLAN UPDATE RELEASED
ALLPLAN has released
Allplan 2018-1, the latest
version of its BIM solution for
architects and structural and
civil engineers. The update
focuses on enhancements with
regards to user experience
and improving the efficiency
for the users' daily work. The
new version enhances the
users' productivity and overall
design quality.
"The latest Allplan update
allows us to continue to deliver
software of the highest quality,
helping our clients to maximise
the capabilities of their
software", states Senior Vice
President Product Management
Kevin Lea. "We would
recommend our clients
upgrade to the latest version
to see the full benefit Allplan
offers their business."
Craig Wheatley, CTO at IES
said, "This partnership gives
our users the best possible
experience for undertaking
LCA and LCC. At IES our
users are at the heart of
everything we do and we are
delighted with our partnership
with One Click LCA."
A key benefit for IESVE
users will be the increase in
credit potential across the two
software platforms for
BREEAM, LEED and other
assessments. With BREEAM
NC UK 2018 just launched
this month at Ecobuild,
BREEAM assessors will be on
the lookout for solutions to
achieve credits which are
becoming increasingly harder
to achieve with each new version
release. The partnership
with One Click LCA means
users can achieve over 50
credits across this solution.
Last October, ALLPLAN introduced
its new BIM solution,
Allplan 2018. Among the highlights
were numerous improvements
supporting BIM processes
such as the optimised IFC4
data export. With the Allplan
2018-1 update there are now
enhanced IFC4 import capabilities,
further enhancing the BIM
workflow.
With Allplan 2018 the new
Actionbar was introduced,
enabling users to quickly find
the tools needed for their task.
Based on client feedback, further
enhancements have been
implemented, making the
Actionbar even more efficient,
allowing quicker access to commands
many of which are now
available with 'one click'.
