How’d you get started in lacrosse? My brother [Tim] played. He started when he was in sixth grade, so I think I was about in second grade… I was used to playing with people older than me my whole life, so when I started playing with people my own age, it just got easier for me, I guess. What’s your favorite memory playing the sport? Sophomore year in the playoffs we beat St. Rita in overtime, and we had never beat them before. [That] sent us to the Final Four, where we had never been before. What’s your spirit animal? A falcon. There’s a level of dominance [associated with the animal]. What would be the first thing you buy if you won the lottery? College tuition. What’s one thing you own that you couldn’t live without? My dog, Roscoe. He’s, like, a poodle/mutt. He’s from the pound, so they don’t know exactly. If you could own an exotic pet, what would it be? A monkey. A little baby monkey. Back when [TV sitcom characters] Drake and Josh got one on TV, I’ve always wanted one since then. Who’s your role model? Probably my older brother [Tim]. He’s always done things, it seems, the right way. I try to follow the way he does things. What are your plans for college? I’m going to be playing lacrosse at Illinois Wesleyan next year. I’m going to major in design technology and entrepreneurship; it’s like a mixture of business/arts major. 22nd Century Media file photo What’s a life lesson you’ve learned playing lacrosse? You can’t take shortcuts anywhere because, if you do, there’s somebody else who didn’t, and they’re going to beat you. What advice do you have for younger players? Probably just enjoy it because it’s not going to go super quick, like a lot of people say it does, but it does end. And when it ends, it’s going to be disappointing.
