Lincoln Drill Hall is your
arts centre – and a great
place to introduce kids
to the arts. We offer a
year-round programme
of shows, theatre groups,
workshops and creative
sessions specifically
aimed at younger
audiences – from tiny
tots to teenagers – plus
events the whole family
can enjoy together.
The acclaimed physical
theatre company Ockham’s
Razor has wowed audiences
with shows at the Drill Hall
over the last few years. Now
they’re coming back to the
city with their brand-new
production The Belly Of
The Whale. In this exciting
out-door show, circus meets
sculpture as the performers,
like surfers on a wild sea, ride
a giant semi-circular see-saw.
Creaking and groaning, it
transforms from a catapult
into a cradle, a tunnel
and a slide - creating an
ever-changing land and
soundscape. These
performances take place
on Castle Hill at 2pm on
Saturday 26 May and
11am and 2pm on Sunday
27 May and
are free.
On Friday 22
June Northern
Ballet make
their first
visit to the
Drill Hall with
Ugly Ducking. This retelling
of the famous Hans Christian
Andersen fairy-tale is the
perfect opportunity for your
little ones to enjoy live ballet,
music and theatre for the first
time. As seen on CBeebies,
Northern Ballet’s sell-out
productions for children are
not to be missed. See Ugly
Ducking at the Drill Hall on
Friday 22 June at 12noon, 2pm
and 4pm
Touching, funny and utterly
original, Scamp Theatre’s
delightful adaptation of
Julia Donaldson and Axel
Scheffler’s Stick Man
is coming back
to Lincoln Drill
Hall on 28 and
29 September!
What starts off
as a morning jog
becomes quite the
misadventure for Stick
Man: a dog wants to
ENTERTAINMENT
Lincoln Drill Hall
Ugly Duckling
play fetch with him, a swan
builds a nest with him, and he
even ends up on a fire! How
will Stick Man ever get back
to the family tree? This awardwinning
production, from the
team behind The Scarecrows’
Wedding, features a trio of
top actors and is packed full
of puppetry, songs, live music
and funky moves. Suitable for
ages 3+ it’s a show the whole
family will enjoy.
Also coming up this Summer
are three outings for Diddy
Disco, the Drill Hall’s regular
dance party for under 7s,
the Happy Monday Club
weekly play sessions for
pre-schoolers, which includes
storytelling, making, music
and dance, Fishtank Youth
Theatre for ages 7-11 and
classes for newborns, babies
and toddlers.
