ASHBY ATHLETIC – CUP FINAL SQUAD
Matty ‘safe hands’ Roberts – Ashby’s Number 1 for this last season
and his first season playing in goal at this level has seen him go
from strength to strength. Commands the back four from his goal
line and has made the 18 yard box his own. Matty has grown in
confidence and is shaping up to be a extremely competent and
reliable goal keeper.
Graham Letts – Centre Back. Graham has been with the club since
we formed in 2015. He has only ever missed 2 games in three
seasons for the club demonstrating his gladiatorial reliability. G is
the backbone of the team and his passion and commitment has seen
him rise to the position of Vice Captain this season.
James Maloy – Centre Back. Along with G, Maloy has been a
constant presence in the Ashby side since formation in 2015. Other
than losing him for a while to a back injury there has been no
keeping him off the pitch. His commitment and dedication to the
cause are surpassed only by his slightly odd banter. A club legend.
Ben Currie – Centre Back/Left Back. Ben is one of our youngest
players coming through the youth team this little acorn has now
firmly become part of the Tree Army. Ben has matured as a person
and a player over the last couple of seasons and whilst his passion
for the game might mean that things still boil over from time to time
we wouldn’t have him any other way.
Mickey Clarke – Right Back/Wing Back. B has played under
manager Mark Jones for over 6 years in various teams. A reliable
and skilful player, he would be outstanding if he could stop taking
people on when he should be passing the ball. Having said that, this
is when he is at his most dangerous and much like Ben, we wouldn’t
have him any other way. His middle name is Barrington. Just saying.
