Redlands Symphony Announces Its 18-19 Season, Inviting<br />

Music Lovers To Let Their Imagination Take Flight<br />

With a Christmas Concert,<br />

A Bernstein Celebration,<br />

and Members of the World-<br />

Famous Emerson String<br />

Quartet Performing Mozart,<br />

the Redlands Symphony’s 69th<br />

Season Soars to New Heights!<br />

Maestro Ransom Wilson, Music Director<br />

and Conductor of the Redlands Symphony,<br />

has announced the orchestra’s<br />

concert programs for its 2018-19 season. Opening<br />

on Saturday, November 3, with a salute<br />

to the 100th birthday of Leonard Bernstein,<br />

America’s most versatile composer, the Symphony’s<br />

69th season offers a wide variety of musical<br />

programs that includes the first Christmas<br />

concert in decades.<br />

“This season will showcase the creative<br />

genius of celebrated composers across the history<br />

of music,” says Maestro Wilson. “We’re<br />

excited to share it with music-lovers everywhere<br />

and hope people will join us for what will be six<br />

remarkable concerts.”<br />

Subscription renewals are currently underway<br />

and will last until September 14th. New<br />

subscriptions are also being accepted but will<br />

not be seated until renewals have ended. Single<br />

tickets go on sale September 17th.<br />

THE 18-19 SEASON TAKES FLIGHT<br />

The new season opens on November 3<br />

with The Genius of Bernstein, as the orchestra<br />

celebrates the composer’s 100th birthday. The<br />

concert opens with “Fanfare for American War<br />

Heroes” and includes Bernstein’s “Symphony<br />

No. 2 – The Age of Anxiety” which will be<br />

performed by renowned pianist Christopher<br />

O’Riley. Completing the program is Bernstein’s<br />

“Suite from On the Waterfront,” selections from<br />

“West Side Story,” and the “Candide Overture.”<br />

For the first time in decades, the Redlands<br />

Symphony will present a holiday concert: A<br />

Christmas Carol: The Concert, based on the<br />

classic novella by Charles Dickens, with music<br />

composed and arranged by Bob Christianson,<br />

with lyrics and book adaption by Alisa Hauser,<br />

presented on Saturday, December 15. This<br />

staged musical concert includes five singing<br />

actors and the Inland Master Chorale, under the<br />

direction of Dr. Joseph Modica. The musical<br />

score includes the Emmy nominated song “No<br />

Trouble.”<br />

“Since I arrived in Redlands, many people<br />

have asked me why the Redlands Symphony<br />

does not perform during the holiday season,”<br />

according to Wilson. “I believe we should and<br />

now we will, with this wonderful musical-retelling<br />

of the classic Dicken’s Christmas story. It’s<br />

a marvelous piece of music and we have already<br />

started work on the production, so it will be<br />

grand, entertaining, and memorable; the perfect<br />

way to celebrate the holiday season for the entire<br />

family.”<br />

Season subscribers will be offered an opportunity<br />

to purchase additional single tickets for<br />

the holiday concert, before they go on sale to the<br />

public. Group sales for this special performance<br />

are also available and can be arranged by calling<br />

(909) 587-5565. This concert would be an ideal<br />

way to gather larger groups of friends, family,<br />

employees, and members of an organization for<br />

a festive Christmas celebration.<br />

On February 2, 2019, Maestro Wilson<br />

continues his exploration of the works of Mozart<br />

with a concert titled The Magic of Mozart.<br />

This concert will feature the solo appearance<br />

of Lawrence Dutton and Phil Setzer, members<br />

of the world-famous Emerson String Quartet,<br />

performing Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for<br />

Violin, Viola and Orchestra, K. 364. The program<br />

also includes Divertimento in D, K. 136,<br />

and Symphony No. 36 “Linz”, both by Mozart.<br />

Maestro Wilson will conduct.<br />

“The appearance by members of the Emerson<br />

String Quartet with our orchestra here<br />

in Redlands will be a banner musical event,”<br />

according to Maestro Wilson. “They perform<br />

and are in demand throughout the world, and I<br />

am very excited they have agreed to play with us<br />

in Redlands.”<br />
