Some common names, terms, places, etc<br />

POST =<strong>NMMI</strong>’s Campus (Campus implies school only , while <strong>NMMI</strong> is a <strong>Military</strong> School)<br />

Corps = The entire “student body”<br />

SLA = Squadron Leadership Advisor (Supervisor over TLA’s and cadets also have access to this position/person)<br />

TLA = Troop Leadership Advisor – Advises and assists the troop staff as they conduct troop activities as cadets<br />

BRC/DRC/SRC = Breakfast, Dinner and Supper Roll Call – Formation & accountability as a troop prior to meals.<br />

They march to Bates/Chow/Mess hall to eat. (“Free BRC/DRC/SRC” means no formation and go eat at will on or off<br />

post, if eligible to do so)<br />

Bates Hall = Also known as “mess hall” where cadets eat most daily meals. (Cadet Store and Dry Cleaners are also<br />

in this bldg)<br />

Stapp Field = Very north end of the post on the west side of Main St – with the bleachers on the north side – also<br />

known as the parade field<br />

Hastings Field = Across from the <strong>NMMI</strong> Post proper on the East side of Main St.<br />

The Box = Hagerman Barracks that are shaped in “a box”<br />

The Slab = Saunders Barracks that are “L shaped” and run alongside the football field<br />

Squadron = <strong>NMMI</strong> has three squadron’s, each one comprised of four troops<br />

Troops = Smaller units within the Squad *see division of squadrons below<br />

Troop Guidon = the red and white flag with each troop’s insignia, which is carried in the front of each troop as they<br />

move on post together.<br />

1 st Squadron Guidons:<br />

“HQ” = Headquarters Troop or “Regimental Band”<br />

“A” = Alpha Troop<br />

“B” = Bravo Troop<br />

“C” = Charlie Troop<br />

2 nd Squadron Guidons:<br />

“E” = Echo Troop<br />

“F” = Foxtrot Troop<br />

“G” = Golf Troop<br />

“H” = Hotel Troop<br />

3 rd Squadron Guidons”<br />

“K” = Kilo Troop<br />

“L” = Lima Troop<br />

“M” = Mike Troop<br />

“N” = November Troop<br />

Honor Troop = There is one troop who’s Guidon says “Honor”. They have won that distinction by being last year’s<br />

Harry Morrison Winner – a points contest between troops. Another troop will win that honor this year.<br />

This list was a HUGE hit and helped many parents who wanted to be able to keep up with their cadet when on<br />

post and know what they were talking about.
